Yup it did. No longer buying produce there unless I have to.
Assuming if it’s not labelled, it’s from the US and 🖕to them.

Did I miss something? Loblaws is no longer labelling fresh produce with its country of origin?

"I'm a liberal, a leftist even, but this woke gender ideology has gone too far."
Okay, so you're a Nazi then. Got it.
The other inventor.
I showed this image in my Internet Law course and asked my students if they could identify this character. Out of ~30 students, only **one** raised his hand. 💔
The early Web was created with the notion that anyone could have a voice with reach. This had made many people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move
Ten years ago today, all* of #Canada gathered together to watch The Tragically Hip's last show.
Gord Downie, the band's lead singer and main songwriter, had been diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer, and The Hip went out on a farewell tour (though they did not call it that).
I did not get tickets to the Kingston show, but we watched at home with the kids. They probably barely remember. I'm still a bit sad.
* = over 11 million people watched live. Canada pop. was ~35 million at the time.
Richard Scarry already summarized everything there is to know about cyber security, about 50 years ago.

He also disagrees with our style of gardening. As in we hate to do it, don't have _time_ to do it (they're retired), so we sometimes... just don't. We have a very lovely (but still not too wild, unkempt) pollinator garden that takes up the majority of our front yard. With little to no work, we _won an award_ for it from our city councillor last year. Oh we'll go out once or twice a year and tame it, but Dave and his wife also like sneaking into our front yard when they _think_ we're not around (we have 2 cars and 3 drivers ha ha) and they're displeased with our maintenance timelines, and doing our gardening for us.
One one hand, sure, do our yardwork for us. But on the other hand, as one of us is a residential property and rental lawyer, _ITS OUR FUCKING YARD_, so then I get to go outside and yell
"GET THE FUCK OUT OF OUR YARD DAVE"
"But you're not do-"
"IT DOESNT MATTER ITS OUR YARD GET THE FUCK OUT OF IT DAVE".
Intrigued by workmen doing work things along the sidewalk of our street frontage, I went outside to see (they're laying neighborhood fibre).
My several decades older neighbour was also out there. Nodding towards the (entirely non-caucasian) work crew out of earshot, he says "Couldn't they find any real #Canadians to do this work?"
"They ARE #Canadian Dave... this is what #Canada looks like now." (unsaid: you racist asshat)
"No, I mean they're so young. Surely there's a bunch of unemployed guys your age (meaning: white) who would love to do it."
"First off no, Dave. No GenXer is going to work a 12 hr day in 27°+ heat for less than an unrealistic $60/hr. And in any case, fuck your assumption. You were born in Poland, your parents fled from the PZPR in '47. I bet every one of those dudes are 2nd/3rd generation Canadians. More Canadian than you, Dave."
"Harumph"
Needless to say, Dave and I are not friends. Pretty sure he votes #Conservative. Time to break out the #pride flag again.
Did you know there is a Unicode block dedicated to "Symbols for Legacy Computing"?!

The Inventor.
So I just started re-reading a #novel series that I first read over a decade ago and re-read every few years. We all have our comfort reads.
When I quit #smoking 7? years ago I discovered something fascinating - as my sense of taste and smell came back, my culinary tastes changed. Turns out I'm not a fan of avacado - we have sushi frequently, but its so mild, when my sense of taste was clobbered by smoking I couldn't taste it. :/
The weird perk of quitting #drinking (coming up on 2 yrs now), is - besides running my mouth embarrassingly... at least less frequently, I still speak before thinking a lot - several of the books and movies that I've only ever watched/read under the influence I get to rediscover almost for the first time. Like I remember the main plot of the stories, but now that I'm actually _there_ for every paragraph, I'm picking up so much more.
Its also a lot easier to lose weight when you're not taking in a few thousand calories in booze every night.
It's a Graboid, run!
The "Tremors (1990)" display at the Museum of Western Film History, Lone Pine, California.
Yup, Tremors is one of my top ten favorite movies. If you a fan of the film you may not be aware that the producer, S.S. Wilson, posted over thirty videos his father made during the filming of Tremors. In "Tremors: the Lost Tapes" episodes Wilson explains the movie making process.
