I'm pleased with this morning's appointment with the orthopedic PA. I'm supposed to gradually wean from the walker to a cane to no mobility aids. I'll start physical therapy tomorrow morning! So it's all good.

I'm waiting to see the orthopedic PA. Wish me luck that she finds that the stress fracture has healed and I can ditch the walker!

I'm afraid I was a bit snarky to the PA at the ER last night. He asked, "Are we on a blood thinner?" A bit miffed that it sounded as if he was speaking to a child, I replied, "Well, I'm not, but I don't know about you."

Good morning, Mastodon friends! Yesterday turned out a little differently than I'd intended. I'd noticed for several days that my right foot and ankle were swollen, but I figured it was just from avoiding putting weight on my right leg due to the stress fracture. However, it became clear that my ankle and lower leg were now red and warm in addition to swollen. It was too late to go to Urgent Care, so the ER it was. Happily, an ultrasound ruled out deep vein thrombosis (DVT). 😀 The conclusion was cellulitis or skin infection. I was released with a prescription for an antibiotic. I'm grateful that it wasn't worse.
My husband and I are tired after a late night at the hospital. I foresee napping for both of us today.

Good morning, Mastodon friends! The flooding rain passed entirely to the south of us last night, but friends in southern IA and IL really got hit. 😢 Heavy rain and storms are expected again tonight. Then there will be a couple of dry days before it starts up again.
I just discovered that we're missing a bag of groceries from our last order a few days ago. It's too late to do anything about it. I guess the lesson is always to check that everything is there when we first bring the groceries in.
I'm looking forward to the weekly Zoom call with my sister this afternoon. I always worry about her when her husband is away for long stretches.

1. We haven't been deluged by heavy rain yet today. (Unfortunately, it's expected overnight.)
2. We ate the first home-grown pepper of the season this evening.
3. I tried "hard" Mathler for the first time, and got it in 2 tries.
Bonus: I had my phone on me when Joule (the dog) locked me out of the house this afternoon, so I could call my husband to let me back in.

Joule locked me out of the house this afternoon, and I can't figure out how. I took her out the back door to relieve herself. She ran back inside before me, and somehow closed the door behind her. How she did that with a door that opens inward, I do not know. I also don't know how the door locked, since it automatically unlocks when the door is opened from the inside. 🤷‍♀️ It was funny rather than upsetting because I had my phone so could call my husband to let me back in.

Good morning, Mastodon friends! I'm checking in later than usual today due to a Zoom meeting and some other things that needed doing. We got heavy rain in the wee hours and into this morning, and may have severe storms this afternoon and overnight. Consequently we have a flash flood and river flood watch until tomorrow morning. So far we've had no problems (other than Joule refusing to go out to relieve herself).
My husband canceled his medical appointment for this afternoon, so we don't have to go anywhere. Yay!

I must say that the injured man is a remarkable person. He is quoted as saying (after he had been rescued by helicopter and taken to the hospital),
"I was not scared for myself - I was just thinking about my girlfriend, trying to hold myself strong so I didn't scare the crew as well.

"I was trying to keep myself awake so I didn't make anyone panic, it doesn't matter the gravity of the problem, it matters for me that the people around do not suffer because of my actions."

Good morning, Mastodon friends! The first round of severe thunderstorms for the day is moving through. Joule spent some time under the bed but now is lying at my feet. A friend who lives a mile from us has lost power, but so far we're ok.
My husband and I really want to go to a talk at the Senior Center this morning, but it will be a challenge with both of us having mobility issues at the moment. If the weather isn't too bad when it's time to leave, I'll drop him off at the door and then find some place to park and wait for his call to pick him up.

Whew! I did manage to get signed in to online banking at the new bank, and my funds have transferred correctly.

Good morning, Mastodon friends! Our bank was bought out by another. The switchover was to have occurred over the weekend. I hope it went/is going smoothly. I can't sign into the online banking at the new bank as I was supposed to be able to this morning. We'll see. I need to make sure that the debit card with the new bank works, and if it does, I'll begin changing the multiple recurring charges that have been going on my old debit card. Very annoying.

1. My sister seemed to be doing ok when we talked to her on Zoom this afternoon.
2. The bad storms yesterday evening bypassed us completely.
3. I got both the word Waffle and the numbers Waffle just now.

Yay me. I got the plants moved. It was a multi-step process, but it's done.
Now I'm going to make split-pea soup. It's not the usual summer meal, but we both like it and I have the ingredients. When I told my husband I was going to make it, he responded, "I love split-pea soup!"

Good morning, Mastodon friends! Yesterday evening's storms skirted us again, with severe weather passing both on the north and the south.
My husband tweaked his back yesterday moving my plants indoors before the expected hail and wind. He's walking around, but very gingerly. I'm trying to formulate a strategy for moving the plants back out myself while using the walker -- an interesting challenge.
Joule has been very rambunctious this morning, probably because neither my husband nor I can walk her. I wish she liked the treadmill. Donny always was patient and steady when using it; Joule not so much.
We have our weekly Zoom call with my sister this afternoon. Her husband is out of the country, and she is not feeling well. I wish we were closer.
