Oh look a perfect case study support for @siracusa to point to regarding the importance of providing a solution to the very top end. Yeah, they’re a tiny percentage compared to mini/MacBook users. But if they disappear so does Mac focus that provides value to more casual users.

Doesn’t take big imagination to see this as a self-fulfilling trend.

You have to be a real special sort of nitwit not to see this coming. For shame, Apple.

Bad systems are bad. Unpredictable systems are worse. But the unpredictability and the trauma that it causes is the point.

They love having immigrants come to work. They love the idea of someone else cleaning their house or working on their farm or making things in a factory. They love being able to hire from an international pool when there isn’t enough of the right education in the country where they’re doing business. They don’t love having immigrant neighbors but they’re willing to put up with having them in town as a necessity to get the other.

But what they REALLY don’t want, what really grinds their gears, is non-white people with rights. Non-white people who don’t view them as superior. Non-white people who are confident and grounded and just as confident in their place in that community as they are. People who speak Spanish as if it’s normal. People who tell them no.

They hate that.

So they create systems which are designed to keep those communities off-balance. Keep people on their toes. Make sure everyone is reminded every year that the only reason why grandma is allowed to live here is because the white people said it was okay and they can take that away at any moment.

So take away that power.

Take away the chaos. Take away the trauma that it causes. Build systems that guarantee that those communities can live in peace.

No one should have to live their life worrying about when they’ll have their next meal or where they’ll sleep that night or whether or not they can renew their visa.
