Sadly there are no gigs on the horizon from my cat's favourite band.

Cinema sees two saucy 1930s women's pictures from Sass Mouth Dames (one of which features sailors), as well as a screening of the weird BBC play Penda's Fen.

There is also an opportunity for people to cycle from Dublin to Belfast (and back), as well as a meetup for people interested in bringing the World Science Fiction Convention back to Dublin in 2029.

Theatre additions include various fringe festival things and a Christmas Eve M.R. James livestream from Robert Lloyd Parry while a rare addition to the comedy tab sees two new dates from Richard Ayoade.

New music events include gigs by Swervedriver and continuity versions of The Beat and Boney M, various National Concert Hall stuff (Mahler, Bach, Mozart, Goebbels etc.), Kirkos events, and some farewell to Dalymount concerts featuring Gemma Dunleavy and Johnny Logan (sadly not together)

Which reminds me of military theory stuff about how counter-force strategies have a tendency to drift into counter-value.

It does feel a bit like the Ukraine Russia is reaching the "everything is a legitimate target" stage.

The thing I really hate about culture wars is when people start deciding whether they like things based on ideological positions rather than whether they like them. Is The Odyssey good because it annoys the Musk bros or is it bad because a woman who translated the poem said she didn't like it?

I found this article on escooters interesting - both on how hard it is to apply a tough regulatory environment in a country where private escooters use is illegal but parents are buying escooters for their kids and also on how data suggests escooters are not getting people out of cars but stopping them from walking and so making them more inactive.

I could be wrong, but I don't think escooters were involved in all 109 of these road deaths.

I like how culture wars go. When The Odyssey was doing well despite Musk hating it everyone was "haha Nazis" but now Emily Wilson has also come out against it some people are more conflicted.
