The Myth

Before 2004 I do remember that one of our suppliers would occasionally blow out boxes of 50 for 25c each tube.

I know bicycle innertubes were pretty high-margin items, but damn, $9 per makes me wonder what wholesale for them is these days.

Would it surprise you to learn a vibe-coded website had security issues with wide ranging impact for city residents? I bet it wouldn't.

An old coworker said their work no longer pays for Claude because they want to reduce costs. I wish I could say I was a bigger person in this moment, but I lol'd.

Drove by the data center construction outside of Port Washington, Wisconsin. The scale of the entire project is massive. My Dad commented that it dwarfs the construction of Point Beach Nuclear Power Plant.

I just couldn't believe how big a waste it really is.

The problem (aside from the everything else) is that Windows print sharing will allow you to save all the remote printer connections but on reboot will only reconnect with a subset if you have more than a certain amount of shared printers connected, which we did.

The solution was to have newer printers connect via print sharing THROUGH CITRIX. The person on the remote end had to start a citrix client session to the print server which then exposed the printer to the server.

Story time: the jankiest print setup.

Back in the day, I worked for a place that ran an app developed in Delphi for Windows. In order to run reports to a printer, the app had to send a request to a windows box running MS Access with some Visual Basic components strapped on. The report would get rendered by Access and then dispatched to a printer for printing.

The printers themselves were located all over the country and connected via Windows print sharing.
