my life is destroyed.

i was outside for approximately 10 minutes yesterday and the extreme heat/humidity combo inspired this haiku:

a glacier fed stream
through a valley of pale orbs
my sweaty butt crack

i know there are bigger things happening but i am still amazed at how no person on this earth causes a more uncontrollable, animalistic, almost primeval urge for me to want to punch in the face than Scott Bessent.

and every time i see him not getting punched i’m thinking “why is no one punching this man?”

i am eating tortilla chips with ketchup.

the desperate vulcans that go in to buy vulcan lotto tickets and scratchers everyday

i want to see a star trek that just follows vulcans that have to work at gas stations or vulcan fast food joints.

I made a zine. It's out, it works, and it needs more eyes than mine — one person can't watch fifty states. In fact, I've already spotted stale sources and dead links so expect a new version soon. But, anyways...

The part I actually want to show people: every section declares when it was last checked and how fast it goes stale. The build fails rather than publish one that's aged out. The colophon prints the oldest check across all sections instead of the newest, because the newest would flatter it.

Most useful thing you can do is re-verify a section — read its sources again, fix what moved, bump the date, open a PR. Weekly CI catches dead links. It can't catch a page that still loads and now says something different.

Second most useful: open an issue telling me where I'm wrong.

All of it works without your name attached — private-email setting, throwaway account, issues only, or just email me. Contributing to a trans resource shouldn't cost you a permanent public record. It's in CONTRIBUTING.

i had this dream that i died, or was already dead, and was touring heaven and i got to the big chorus of people and angels singing but it was all Stomp Clap music and i stood there asking if this was going to happen forever and they said yes and then it occurred to me that i wasn’t in heaven but actually hell.

the cool internet died with microsoft frontpage.

i was driving last night and flipping radio stations and made it just in time for a station to announce itself as “chicago’s classic rock” and then start playing the Gorillaz and i almost drove into a tree.

in other news...i made a knitting and crochet thing (well, vector symbols)!

this started because i was working on another program and got tired of trying to find/use other knitting symbols from pngs, etc.

so now what we have is a free, open-source svg set of the craft yarn council's standard knit and crochet chart symbols, with a little web customizer to recolor, resize, and download them.

102 symbols total — 81 knit, 21 crochet — plus a customizer that runs straight from github pages.

the cyc reviewed and approved the project last week.

free, no signup, no tracking — for indie pattern designers, zine makers, teachers, anyone who works with charts and doesn’t want to roll their own symbols.

contributions and suggestions welcome — open an issue or pr if there's a symbol you'd like added, a bug to fix, or an improvement you'd like to see.

walking to work i pass a gas station - this morning gas was $4.59 and this afternoon on my way home it was $4.99.

i’m taking this as confirmation that things are, indeed, going super well.

all i’ve learned since last year is that all of those “ideological institutions” that made their name on propagandizing how they spoke truth to power in service of knowledge and progress only did so when the power let them. because as soon as the power gave them a little pain they were quick to not only abandon their professed ideology but also become willing proselytizers for said power.

this isn’t new. institutions, like corporations, etc. have no true beliefs other than self preservation.

day 2 of felt commodore 64 pillow. just gotta do a little bit of felting and clean up the stitches and blammo - gift time.
