Man, this is my allergy to tyranny acting up again. Yesterday it was Apple breaking their own rules. Today it's just wanting my own OS images in the dropdown. Why are those the options and why are they all bad? Just let me do it instead, so it can be good.
Instead of clicking through an escape hatch for "full control" or "I know what I'm doing", I want a system that's built from the ground up for security and zero vendor lock in.

The system should be layered, so you descend into madness only as deep as you want.

Apple giving health advice through an app is the kind of thing they were guarding against when I worked at Marathon Health. They wanted to make sure that our app didn't provide medical advice. It didn't, but would instead allow you to do a Health Risk Assessment and schedule an appointment. Apple breaking their own rules makes me so mad.

I have a retrocomputing rarity that I'm willing to part with, if someone wants to give it some TLC. It's not in working order, but I believe it's quite serviceable so that it can be restored. It's an IBM RS/6000 860 Iaptop. I think it has a PowerPC 603e CPU. Again, it's quite rare. To get it working, I think you will need a new internal SCSI drive and some new memory, as well as an external SCSI CD-ROM drive. If this sounds like a fun project for you, please let me know.

You know, honestly, more than monetary donations, if somebody worked at a company that had access to a lot of 18 terabyte and larger hard drives and could talk to us, that's where we are really suffering. The internet archive has no special priority in buying hard drives and those things are insane.
Kind of bummed I didn't get anything on Bandcamp Friday (yesterday).
Plexamp, on shuffle, played Keep It Together by Guster, which is a local Vermont band. Someone I dated in Ohio hated Guster. We went to a concert with her friend, who loved Guster. The girl I was dating said that Guster was a bunch of loser pot-smocking idiots. I realized at that moment that I was more like Guster than I was her boyfriend. We didn't last much longer after that.

I've always wanted an offline copy of Wikipedia, just in case bad stuff happens. I thought that it would be a pain to deal with the files, etc. I had DeepSeek v4 Flash build me a web interface and a bunch of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) jobs for making this data available to me via the web interface. It took about two days to process the data, but now I have this set up to update automatically four times per year.

I am shopping around for attorneys to sue a couple businesses over their use of AI and automated voice customer service.
Due to my Parkinson's Plus, MSA, I have speech issues and over this past month, at multiple businesses, I haven't been able to get past their AI customer service loop to speak to a human because the AI can't understand me.
I even made an #ADA request for a human worker to the AI prompt.
I am going to sue to try to force their AI to understand an ADA prompt, or offer one, to bypass the AI/voice only customer support and directly connect to a human. #AI
One issue is, I talk slow and deliberate because I have to get the words out and some phrases are slower than others and AI customer support is too impatient to wait and moves on mid-sentence, not understanding my request
