Following its successful world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, B’Tselem’s new 360° VR documentary, Raj’in (“We Shall Return”), will have its German premiere at DOK Leipzig, the International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film.

Raj’in documents the forced displacement of Palestinian shepherding communities in the occupied West Bank as part of Israel’s project to dismantle Palestinian collective life there. Combining 360° footage with videos filmed by Palestinian residents and protective-presence activists, the film immerses viewers in the reality of Israeli military raids, pogroms carried out by settler militias, home demolitions, and harassment by Israeli authorities.

Co-created by Faiz Abu Rmeleh and Keren Manor. Co-produced by B’Tselem and Now Here Media.

The film will be presented as part of DOK Neuland, the festival’s extended reality exhibition, from 26 October to 1 November 2026, with the filmmakers in attendance.

If you're in Leipzig, join us and experience the film.

https://netzpolitik.org/2026/wir-stehen-auf-den-schultern-vieler-kleiner-giganten/

FWIW I think PHP team did a good job with this. It’s a thankless job as it’s mostly volunteers powering the internet while almost everybody freeloads off ‘em, tale as old as, well, the internet.

:blobcatthinksmart:

The PHP #security issue shows once again how much our society relies on mostly volunteer work.

Look at PHP Foundation @thephpf finances:
https://opencollective.com/phpfoundation#category-BUDGET

- Reimbursed $67K on development work this year
- Received: $642,755 last year

Compare these numbers with the amounts companies have made with products & services built upon #PHP. Our digital foundations are built on the backs of #opensource volunteers. Governments & companies need to invest in our common digital infrastructures.

@bpb

https://www.bpb.de/die-bpb/foerderung/foerdermoeglichkeiten/modellfoerderung/

@Wando

@sundogplanets I keep thinking about this. I don't know if there are any nuclear physicists who will be there, especially neutronics or nuclear data folks, but it's always worth asking about Tungsten.

A lot of designs rely on Tungsten for in-core materials. No one has provided a sufficient answer to me for dealing with the activation of Tungsten. The two main stable isotopes after collecting a neutron have half-lives of 24 hours and 70ish days. The first is a beta decay releasing an over 1 MeV gamma, the second about a 0.5 MeV gamma.

I'm so curious how they're thinking about dealing with the constant production of hard gammas in their materials with a reasonably short half life that will lead to significant radiation hazards.
