"The far right openly defends the removal of labor protections, women’s rights, and the rights of minorities. These are political projects aimed at reversing rights won through decades of struggle. No right is irreversible, and every gain can be undone if those who fought for it fail to defend it." https://www.liberalcurrents.com/the-future-of-brazils-fight-against-neofascism/

"The way to get what you want is by increasing your enemy’s risk of utter helplessness." https://www.liberalcurrents.com/are-you-tired-of-winning-yet/

"'I owe feminism NOTHING. No woman does,' wrote Campopiano on X in 2021. Five years later, at just 23, she became the most-voted candidate for São Paulo’s state assembly, receiving nearly 1.95 million votes… She has described herself as the greatest enemy of feminists in São Paulo." https://www.liberalcurrents.com/the-future-of-brazils-fight-against-neofascism/

"The entire point of Project 2025 is to personalize the federal government. When members of the personalist’s own party ignore his requests, that’s a very good thing." https://www.liberalcurrents.com/the-midterms-are-here/

"The day is finally here. Whether it brings triumph or disappointment, we will at least know." https://www.liberalcurrents.com/the-midterms-are-here/

"This victory, undoubtedly historic, took place against a significantly adverse backdrop, as the elections for governors, deputies, and senators were won mostly by candidates from the right and the far right." https://www.liberalcurrents.com/the-future-of-brazils-fight-against-neofascism/

"A serious reform agenda starts with expanding the Security Council’s permanent membership to reflect the actual weight of the world as it exists today, not as it existed in 1945." https://www.liberalcurrents.com/rebuilding-international-law/

"The idea that people groups with specific traits of skin color and religion are an inferior caste wholly unsuited to live and participate in democracy is a standard view in certain right-wing circles. What Phillips-Fein points out is that the popularity of this belief among extremely wealthy individuals such as Elon Musk is not entirely new." https://www.liberalcurrents.com/announcing-our-weekly-books-newsletter/

"Clausewitz insisted on the primacy of the political point of view: military success is only intelligible if we understand it as a tool of coercion." https://www.liberalcurrents.com/are-you-tired-of-winning-yet/

A rotating group of the Liberal Currents crew will join you live tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Eastern time with a truly tremendous set of guests stopping by along the way. https://www.liberalcurrents.com/watch-liberal-currents-live-at-7-pm-et-on-election-night/

"It is only possible to believe that bombing alone has substantial coercive power if you ignore the mechanisms by which military success has historically induced the enemy to give in." https://www.liberalcurrents.com/are-you-tired-of-winning-yet/

The weekly roundup of what we’ve done at Liberal Currents includes five essays on the meaning of liberalism—”Liberalism Week,” we called it. https://www.liberalcurrents.com/weekly-roundup-october-26-november-1-2026/

"This is where a large segment of American liberalism finds itself today: mourning a 'rules-based international order' that was never quite as rule-bound as advertised…and waiting for Trump to simply go away so the old arrangements can be quietly restored. They won’t be restored." https://www.liberalcurrents.com/rebuilding-international-law/

Neon Liberalism #97: Samantha Hancox-Li interviews Logan Wright, author of "Broken China," about why the conventional wisdom on China is wrong, why we should stop thinking about strategic minerals and start thinking about macroeconomics, and why time is not on China's side. https://www.liberalcurrents.com/how-the-wheels-came-off-chinas-economic-malaise-neon-liberalism-97-with-logan-wright/

"He's [Mike Rogers] got literally nothing. That's what I'm seeing in this rampant Islamophobia… I just think that if you had any sort of pitch, any sort of ammo left that you haven't used yet, this is when you'd be using it. And he's just like, 'nope, I'm just going to racist my way to the finish.'" https://www.liberalcurrents.com/midterms-madness-2026-whos-winning-the-senate-half-the-answer-111-with-ryan-cooper-marisa-kabas-and-jonathan-m-katz/

"No matter what, the winner of the primary is the party’s candidate. They have our full support. They may never get that last endorsement from Kristen Gillibrand, John Fetterman, or James Carville, but in the party itself, Vote Blue No Matter Who is the golden rule." (from September) https://www.liberalcurrents.com/meet-the-democrats/

"The Muslim Brotherhood wasn't designated a terrorist organization in the United States until January of this year. They make it seem like this is like a deep-rooted American issue where everyone knows that you obviously disavow the Muslim Brotherhood. And it's like, no, like, not really." https://www.liberalcurrents.com/midterms-madness-2026-whos-winning-the-senate-half-the-answer-111-with-ryan-cooper-marisa-kabas-and-jonathan-m-katz/

"The Iraq War was not simply a strategic blunder. It was the final discrediting of the post–Cold War liberal interventionist framework. It was sold to the public on pretenses, prosecuted with catastrophic incompetence, and defended long past the point where any honest assessment could justify it." https://www.liberalcurrents.com/in-search-of-an-fdr-consensus-the-future-of-an-american-foreign-and-defense-policy/
