I was about to send a pleasant emoji in reply during a chat,
and a small animated green dragon with folded arms, shaking its head 'no' appeared above the
message entry screen. I sent what I sent anyway. But what the h was that?!

So what happens when you boil the ocean?

What would you call an #AI mete-up?
Sloppy Bros? Sloppy Joes? (no insult intended towards the comfort food)

Someone told me a grandparent would rub a raw potato over a skillet to make it non-stick, rather than using butter. They would then cook pancakes. Anyone else heard of this before or actually do that?

For those with disabilities:

Did you know curbside voting is an option for you?
Curbside voting allows you to park as close as possible to the voting area.
Elections officials will bring you a roster to sign, a ballot, and any other voting materials you may need,
whether you are actually at a curb or in a car.
All polling places and vote centers are required to be accessible to voters with disabilities and will have accessible voting machines.

You can check your voter status, or for a family member/friend for #elections in California. It's a good practice. Especially in these times. If you have changed your name, or moved to a new address, re-register to vote. Earlier is better.

If toxic waste dumps were being placed in your area, would you call that a toxic waste dump boom? After all, people get employed to operate heavy earth moving machinery, so jobs, so that's a boom. Not so many jobs after construction. This is an analogy about data centers. And #ai

Substack is problematic for many.
So here is a way to explore Ghost.

I don't see many links to Ghost hosted writing on Mastodon. Maybe that will change.
Start somewhere, right?

The book 'Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds', first published in 1841, remains in print and writers continue to discuss its influence, particularly the section on financial bubbles. If you have Actual Intelligence, you can understand why.

He told the graduates they all have 'AI': Actual Intelligence.

Who watches the watchers?
-This applies to concepts such as tyrannical governments, uncontrollably oppressive dictatorships, and police or judicial corruption and overreach. (paraphrase of Wikipedia)

“Crucial remains the conviction that the government should serve the people and that its powers must be circumscribed by a Constitution and the rule of law. Juvenal's question quis custodiet ipsos custodes (who guards the guardians?) remains a central concern of democracy, since the people must always watch over the constitutional behaviour of the leaders and impeach them if they act in contravention of their duties. Constitutional courts must fulfil this need and civil society should show solidarity with human rights defenders and whistleblowers who, far from being unpatriotic, perform a democratic service to their countries and the world.”
