Hello Fediverse. I'm looking for a job.

I'm a web developer of 12 years of experience (mostly backend, but I can do some frontend in a pinch). Microservices, new APIs, refactorings - I did it all.
I primarily worked with #Ruby and Rails, but I have experience with #Python and #Elixir.

Currently residing in Israel, but I'm happy to work remotely on contract, or maybe even relocate.

If you're interested, my LinkedIn is https://www.linkedin.com/in/artemiysolopov/

TIL that, if you select the text and paste an URL, #Obsidian automatically converts it into a link.
I feel mildly silly for doing it with a plugin now.

#ObsidianMD

Ugh.
Having no luck with flashcard apps on Linux.
All of them buggy in one way or another...

I wonder if people on Mastodon (using #iOS in particular) just don't care about notifications.
The prime reason of using an app, for me, is to get notifications for when someone interacts with my post.
I tried #IceCubes and #Mona yesterday, and both have problems with notifications. @tootapp works perfectly for it (even if the default sound is a bit... jumpscare-y).

So apparently a #FlyIO dev is a douche canoe who promotes gen AI in the most douche canoe way possible.
And Fly just decided to let them... fly... on their company's blog.

Suddenly pondering if there are any small virtual/emulated processors made for the purpose of learning Assembly.

That are not games (like TIS-100 or Shenzhen I/O).

#asm

The best thing about a pet project is that no one tells you that it's silly or impractical.
Like the time when I tried to integrate #VueJS with #HTMX (reasonably successfully).

Pondering doing a somewhat cursed thing of #RPC over #MQTT (for a pet project).

I still think every so often how government actions made modern Unix possible.
Anti-trust intervention against AT&T made original Unix source-available.
University of California (Berkeley) started their derivative which would become BSD.
Vrije Universiteit gave Andrew Tannenbaum resources to develop MInix.
Helsinki University gave Linus Torvalds resources to develop Linux.

#Unix #BSD #Linux #Minix

Am I the only one for whom https://docs.akkoma.dev returns 503? #akkoma

It does feel like #Mozilla is pissing away all the good faith it has, at alarming rates.

NGL I'm still baffled by the fact that someone at #Mozilla was apparently like "Yeah, let's partner with #Meta to build better ads, the totally trustworthy company that's totally interested in making ads better."

Mildly hot programming take.
People who bashed Balatro's "massive scroll of ifs" are ignoring the facts that:
1. Game dev is fundamentally different from modern GUI/web dev.
2. Developing a single-player game solo is very different even from developing a big game with a team and a lifecycle, not to mention a continually-delivered web project.
3. The code isn't even *that* bad, in my opinion.

#balatro #lua #gamedev

Last boost related.
One of the reasons I like #fediverse is that it's built around a *protocol*, not an *application*. Which means, you can have multiple different setups (Mastodon, Mastodon fork, Pleroma, Akkoma, Misskey, Misskey fork, etc) playing against each other pretty much seamlessly.

So, my last post (at the moment of this post) was in Nov 2019, so a new #introduction post might be in order.

Hello everyone! My name is Artemis. I will mostly write about #Programming (incl. #Ruby, #Python, #Clojure, #Elixir, #Golang, #Docker and others), #SciFi, #fantasy with occasional various nerdy postings (#linux/#unix #comicbooks, #lego, #formulae), #lgbtqi stuff or plain nonsense-posting.

Hope you enjoy!
