You can buy mercenaries, but not loyalty.
The money you hold in your hands will, sooner or later, be worth nothing.

Hey #FreeBSD folks, NetBSD hit more than double their funding target after adopting a strong no-LLMs policy. Something to think about while you draft yours, perhaps?
I'm not much of a drinker. In fact, I almost never drink alcohol. But today we're popping a bottle of Prosecco.
It's necessary.
The fog muffles the lights and the colours. The fog muffles the noises and sounds, creating a penetrating silence everywhere. It's Sunday, there's fog and it's silent outside.
Old photo, but could have been taken today.
Enshittification is the intentional degradation of products as companies shift focus from pleasing consumers to maximizing profits for shareholders.
The Norwegian Consumer Council hate enshittification and they're using humour to fight it.

After a couple weeks of procrastinating, I finally migrated my NetBox instance from the Ubuntu 22.04 Proxmox LXC old to the new #FreeBSD 15.1 Jail.
The old NetBox instance was still on v4.1.7, because I would have needed to upgraded Postgres 14 to a later version.
Fortunately, the only thing I had to do was to dump the old netbox database and restore it into the Postgres 18 DB inside the jail, and copy all the images from .../media/devicetype-images over.
The Jails runs v4.6.10 and simply running "manage.py migrate" once after restoring the data was all it took.
Now I can finally shut down my Proxmox VE server, as all services have been migrated to my FreeBSD NAS / home server. 😁
Making some minor tweaks (mostly visual) to my static site generator for #git (grubby!) https://git.btxx.org/grubby
No longer listing out repeat files under the same directory. They are now grouped under a single instance:
After you compiled and installed a new version of FreeBSD, use etcupdate(8) to merge
configuration updates.
Run "etcupdate extract" once when your sources match your running system, then run
"etcupdate" after every upgrade and "etcupdate resolve" to resolve any conflicts.

I was in my Dad’s garage looking for a tool and found this old stack of CDs that he now uses to deter birds from his garden.
Ubuntu 9.10 server edition. Blast from the past!
It's Caturday. I want out. Let me speak to the manager!
