Maybe if we’d made a collective decision a few years back that 8 GB is plenty for personal devices, that would have reduced the incentive to add bloat to entice us to constant upgrades. I’m always struck by how ZX Spectrum developers, forced to limit themselves to 48K, found ways to max out what that could achieve. Maybe a recovery of that energy would be good for us. But a period of silence on Sam Altman’s part would still be welcome
