Do I remember correctly that somebody packaged Orpheus as an NVDA addon at some point?

#voiceOver users familiar with #VOCR, is there a "OCR entire screen" feature somewhere? I'm getting a couple windows that report as "unknown window" and would like to check the entire screen but can't seem to find a way to do this. @chikim @FreakyFwoof either of you any super clever ideas I might not have considered yet?

ahh and the first comment is from a lead technical recruiter from Australia, who works for a renowned US-based contracting agency and asks me to send my resume to a gMail account with a different name on it for a "confidential review". Of course the shortlist is being made RIGHT NOW, and when I look at the profile the supposed lead recruiter has 0 followers and is spamming similar comments on random people's posts all within the last half an hour. Very legit-looking stuff here, I almost fell for it.

I just posted a LinkedIn post about doing #accessibility for ... y'know .. the actual people affected rather than making those the secondary focus below compliance, metrics and dashboards. The comparison of playing a piano with a clipboard may have been made.
If a few managerial staff spontaneously combust in a fit of self-righteous corporate rage because of this, I'm very sorry.

Obviously the consequences of this are no joke at all, and all the power to those affected, but ... can we agree it is a little bit funny that the country of burgers, hot dogs, bacon, fast food galore and Texas gets hit by a thing that makes proper fruits and veg even less likely to be eaten? Like ... is it just me who had a bit of a chuckle about that?

Folks (vibe)-coding #NVDA addons, all the power to you but PLEASE check for conflicts in your gestures before putting your stuff out there. I get that we can't account for addons clashing with other addons, but I've seen addons that outright nix basic NVDA shortcuts like routing the mouse (nvda+shift+m) or finishing a review cursor copy (nvda+f10) or heck even breaking object navigation commands (nvda+shift+arrows). However cool your addon is, it isn't cool enough for it to just do that :)

Bluesky honestly has been up in arms about the Meta glasses for weeks now. One of the pro arguments is always "blind people use them". One of the counter arguments is "they are pervert glasses that let you secretly record people".
Maybe I'm just too well adjusted to follow this mindset but explain this to me. How is this any worse than holding a phone in front of your face, like a huge amount of people do these days?
Compared to phones:

- Meta glasses let you only record a few minutes at a time;
- You can't actually see what you're recording until after with the non-display glasses at least;
- You look hella conspicuous wearing these things in a place you probably shouldn't be wearing them like a bathroom;

Isn't a phone with a proper viewfinder a way better perving device?

whereas yesterday I showed off my own mod for a somewhat cult Japanese roleplaying #game, tomorrow we're going mainstream. A blind person shall be streaming #cyberpunk2077 with #accessibility enhancements, same time, same channel

For those who missed it, the secret lil project was an #accessibility helper for the game Disgaea 5: alliance of vengeance that was demoed on stream. Still loads of work to do, but already in a pretty decent state. Test builds will be going up on Patreon soon.

As of late I've seen Android Talkback just ... lock up. Can't swipe, can't properly lock/unlock, it just ...hangs. Usually it fixes itself after just leaving it be for a few minutes but ... is that just me? Did I bork my phone or did Google bork Talkback?

and most if not all #foss software will either get contributions from people you don't like, money from places you don't like, sponsors from companies you don't like, or will go in a direction you don't agree with. I guess we can't win
