I give it until the end of 2027 for Reddit to drop the pretense of being a website and move to being app-only.

the automatic subtitles on YouTube are not properly accessible. swear words being blanked out is not neutral accessibility for Deaf people like me. if the person in the video is swearing, we need to have that information conveyed to us, not [_____]. we are Deaf, not children. but no one wants to talk about this.

I feel like it’s hard to express to people who got online after a certain era that culture wasn’t this conservative and censorious once upon a time. I mean, modern social media platforms are harsher on a lot of content than broadcast TV and magazines used to be. Good thing we replaced all that stuff with Online I guess.

To be clear, this is a joke and not meant to be gatekeeper-y. To each their own.

And yet, I'm very entertained by the idea of someone gatekeeping with "bad" practices instead of "good" ones.

Are you even a real programmer if you don't have 1-3 changes in Git that you consistently don't commit, don't get rid of, and don't add to .gitignore?

Sometimes I like to use my mirrors when backing my car in, instead of the backup cam, like our forefathers.

For those of you who don’t follow Formula 1, you might not know that this weekend is the Bahrain Grand Prix… in Malaysia.

Because of the Iran war, the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix, scheduled for April, were cancelled.

But Bahrain is so committed to sportswashing that they rescheduled their race and bankrolled having it hosted at a track F1 hasn't raced on since 2017.

They've gone as far as to flying out their own marshals, BBQ, coffee and rose water, and building landmark replicas.

I saw Robyn last night in Mexico City and it was wonderful.

On vacation, disheveled after a late night, walking up to the panadería and there’s someone recording Content™ out front.

I hope for the viewers’ sake, and mine, I don’t end up in the finished product; walking behind them looking like Gringo Sasquatch.

I think the highlight of my week was my husband unexpectedly seeing a star player from our local football club walking by us at an event and causally saying to him, as if they were old friends, “Oh hey Jack Gurr, how’s it going?”

Slayyyter is usually pretty hit or miss for me, but whew, I really like this latest single (brand new chanel$).

It's got an almost nostalgic quality for me, like little hints of EDM and alt-rock and a top 40s vibe? I don't know, but I like it.

I, for one, like Phoebe Bridgers' song about liking Bo Burnham.

I've recently started using the Hevy app on iOS now that I'm no longer working with a personal trainer at the gym, and I freaking love it.

It's simple, it's not loaded with up-sells or bloat, and a lot of the behaviors feel obvious to me. I used their Apple Watch app for the first time today and it made the whole experience even better.

I'd recommend it if you're someone who wants a way to log the details of their workouts. I haven't tried Pro yet, but I haven't needed it.

The new iOS 27 Beta 6 released today is *way* smoother for me on my iPad. They fixed the most annoying issue I had, where you couldn’t click anything at the top of Safari.

I don’t think the beta will land on my phone, but I’m really looking forward to the actual release next month.

I’m truly at a loss for words. I worked with Jason on the Dependency Graph team and he was someone who I really looked up to. I was just thinking of reaching out to see if he’d like to catch up, I am truly astonished and sad…

Fuck cancer.

I love wet burritos. That is all.
