The EU came up with the next shitty law: PPWR. Now everyone has to register a local person in every EU state (about 13k euro) to ship a package. Of course amazon can handle that but small shops are just closing. And this even hits middle sized shops, some of our hardware vendors dont ship EU wide anymore because its very complicated to register in some countries because no translations or you need a local notary. Free market? Just for big players.

Really interesting how many 🪪 identity verification services used by Government Departments/Agencies/Organisations choose to host seemingly 🛡️ high priority/security related Services on non-regional domains. 🤔
For example;
A 🇺🇸 US Based Identity Verification Service - https://id.me
Uses a 🇲🇪 Montenegro ccTLD - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.me
A 🇫🇮 Finish based IDV Service - https://hightrust.id/en/
Uses a 🇮🇩 Indonesian ccTLD - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.id
I wonder how many more examples there are of this behaviour. Choosing a vanity domain name over one that might be more secure, less liable to changes, less trusted, etc. 🤔

“The public’s one account for government.”
🤔
After doing some recent work on a UK #Government #Service that utilises 🔐 GovUK #OneLogin (https://www.sign-in.service.gov.uk), it's interesting to see how other #Government / #PublicSector organisations approach 🪪 Identity Verification.
In the US, #TreasuryDirect look to be moving to ID.me > https://www.treasurydirect.gov/savings-bonds/idme-one-month/ - an interesting shift from a Government managed IDV Service to a private identity provider and identity verification service. 🤔
As problematic as the shift between different UK IDV systems has been (Government Gateway → Gov Verify → GovUK OneLogin → …?), and considering all the inherent risks this ‘eggs in one basket’ approach has - I still appreciate the fact this hasn't been outsourced to the private sector here in the UK. 🤔

Some interesting insights and data in the UK #PublicSector ✨ A I Procurement Tracker from Tussell.
✨ Between 2018 and 2026 the UK public sector awarded 2,129 A I contracts worth £5 billion in total.
✨ 2026 is already the biggest year on record for A I-related public procurement. With more than a quarter of the year still to go, the total value of A I-related contract awards has surpassed that of any previous year.
✨ The UK public sector's top A I buyers includes Met Office, the Ministry of Defence, the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology, and NHS England.
✨ The UK public sector's top A I suppliers include Microsoft, Palantir, KPMG, Hochtief and the LGC.
✨ The scale of A I procurement … still only accounts for roughly 4% of the total value of all IT Services and Software contracts awarded by the public sector over the Jan 2018 - Jan 2026 period (£123bn).
