Did that #FediGig hashtag ever take off?
Lately there's been a lot of math in my work and there's not a lot of math in my brain. I think I would be willing to pay someone an hourly rate to answer math questions for me (and bill it to my client, ofc).
The last time I tried this with a different topic it worked wonderfully, and a 2 hour chat with @gsuberland saved me days of learning things I would never need again.
Here's a sample of things I had to figure out (with varying degrees of success) in the last few weeks that I expect are obvious to someone in the domain and/or properly educated:
- Fitting a set of functions to map between between non-uniform 3D and 4D spaces based on a small number of unreliable readings.
- Building a lookup table from the said set of functions/readings, which are also non-uniformly distributed, which skews the basic 1D arithmetic mean quite badly.
- Picking a good but fast and adjustable window function to hopefully help with that a little bit.
- Intersecting lines with convex hulls and a bunch of other 3D/4D geometry, linear algebra, trigonometry and whatnot.
All this stuff is magic to me and I do feel really happy when I finally figure out for myself what a "plane normal" or a "unit vector" is and why "dot product" is a useful measure of anything , but there's only so much time I'm willing to spend speedrunning what I supposedly was to learn 20 years ago, if the common lore about what programmers are good at is to be believed.
So basically I'm looking for a math/statistics/CS tutor but the exam is whatever I happen to be working on today and there's no curriculum. Text or voice is good.
If you respond with a suggestion to talk to a chatbot, or, worse, an "answer" from that chatbot, you might actually become the first non-troll person I've blocked on here.
If I had the knowledge or energy to "double-check the answers", I wouldn't be bloody asking.
