@CoMaps Is there a way to support you regularly by a simple SEPA bank transfer? Cheap, immediate, European? All other options seem to go through platforms that want a share, or US credit cards that take a share, and PayPal is, well, no longer an option for me for political reasons.
@mipstian Kaylee, can we have a #Wipr add-on that blocks everything FIFA World Cup from every news site? Please?! Litte too late for that now, I guess. But maybe in 2030? 😁 #SarcasmButOnlyHalf
@mipstian Is this something Wipr 2 blocks? https://browsergate.eu
Abandon the em-dash in your human writing?
The irony—and it’s a big irony—is that real writers use em-dash frequently, and for reasons. As a written signifier of verbal speech pauses, it means something different than what commas and semicolons mean. It connects while separating.
That’s why so many writers use em-dash when it is the best mark for the job. And chatbots use it because they were schooled on millions of writers.

Safari 26.4 is here!
https://webkit.org/blog/17862/webkit-features-for-safari-26-4/
Grid Lanes. WebTransport. Keyboard Lock API. And _tons_ of fixes & improvements. Please read the introduction to our article to learn what we’ve been up to…
Did you know that on macOS, you can update just to Safari 26, while remaining on macOS 15 Sequoia or even macOS 14 Sonoma?
Go to > System Settings > General > Software Update. Under “Also Available” you’ll find Safari listed. Click “Update Now”.
I'm no fan of Apple's new liquid glass design language, but this post will be the best you can read to learn how to build it with web tech and SVG magic.
Over the years, I’ve heard a lot of developers & other people wish that uBlock Origin was available for Safari. Now it is! Download for Safari 18.6 and Safari 26 beta.
🔥 I have news! After a 1y hiatus, I’m once again leading this year’s #StateOfHTML survey, thanks to generous funding by Google. ❤️
🙋🏽♀️ Is there is an HTML feature or Web API you're dying to see progress on? Suggest it and it could be included!
Browsers fund these surveys to see what matters to devs — so if others care too, it can really help. E.g. these surveys are the reason we have CSS Nesting.
⌛️ The survey is launching later this month, so time is of the essence!
Gosh this ad makes me proud.
‘Apple's ethos has always been about building tools to empower users to make art, to create, to be original. I don't know what it is, but it sure as hell isn't human creativity.’ — @roguelazer https://www.roguelazer.com/blog/2024-oh-the-humanity/
This article by Jessica Wildfire sums it up perfectly: “So, we have a virus that's incredibly contagious. It kills some people immediately. For everyone else, it damages your brain. It damages your heart and blood vessels. It damages your immune system, making you vulnerable to other diseases. It shortens your telomeres. It ages you. […] It’s that bad. […] We don't have a choice. We have to keep fighting, and we have to keep protecting ourselves.”
I've relaunched https://variablefonts.dev where I share my love and experiments with variable fonts. It's a mix of demos, articles, lists of fonts and the occasional special font and/or foundry spotlight.

Here we go! Today is the day we are launching Interop 2023. You can read about *all* the details on the WebKit Blog at https://webkit.org/blog/13706/interop-2023/
Interop 2023 continues 7 focus areas from last year (while retiring 8) and adds 18 new areas. We are excited to see the engineering teams behind Chrome/Edge, Firefox and Safari all strive to pass as many tests as possible — tests that check to see how close implementations are to the web standards that define those technologies.
Every news outlet should stand up a Mastondon instance for their reporters & staff.
It’ll be great to see GivennameFamilyname@mastodon.famousnewspaper.com or whatever domain they want to use.
Built in verification. Every reporter for the Washington Post on a washpo domain. Every reporter for the New York Times on an NYTimes domain. Etc, etc.
Plus the “local” feed for each instance becomes a feed of all the posts from that institution mixed together — providing extra discovery.
