Last week's #makershour had questions related to media we're watching. I just finished "My Dress Up Darling" (#kisekoi) - which relates directly to what used to be my primary forms of making.
This season focused a lot an the groups/community that form around the hobby. And really that is the best aspect of the hobby. From planning to late nights sewing together to early morning prep to road trips to group dinners.

Recently I've been thinking Web Rings are underrated.
I wore my Owl head and cyberpunk jacket for the Halloween party at #supercon and a bit Saturday night too. Though I had to keep taking it off to speak to people. At some point I need to add a speaker like those used for some storm trooper helmets.
There were a number of cool badge cases at Supercon this year. @thzinc kinda vaporwave case was really cool in person.

Best outfit at #supercon last night IMO - @securelyfitz - above the buttons are epaper displays that change questions, and when you make a choice, it takes your picture and prints out the meme with you in it and the questions you were given.
This is the busiest I've seen my city. I took a break from the walk to rehydrate and took these photos.

Here's an example where the columns are orange & teal instead of white.
Result of many months of work - over 15,000 LEDs to make a dim room. For #neotropolis
The triangles on the front are segments of 32 addressable LEDs, but were just solid white most of the time. The window clock is sheets of WS2816 driven by Novastar processor. The columns are RGBW DMX512. (one color per column.)
The columns are laser cut. The mirror pieces are CNC'd with my home brew CNC. (Because the edges are beveled) The counter top & window are routed with CNC'd templates for the arcs.
Yesterday I went to a mad scientist meet up.
Unfortunately, while I did have a sign, before heading out, I realized it was unreadable without shade. The location was a large plaza at noon. So in the end, I had nothing more than my presence.
I expect there will be similar events in the future that I will feel obliged to attend. I'm considering getting some "outdoor" (1/4 or 1/8 scan) HUB75 style displays, or maybe a grid of multiple epaper displays?
@themariday I did try the "hardmode" setup, and the mapper did have more difficulty. It kept seeing reflections and deciding the pixel was somewhere inbetween the real LED and its reflection. The solution was stopping down the camera's shutter speed a lot. Then Marimapper did much better finding the real LED. It's not perfect, but overall looks good
Inspired by @geekmomprojects 's friend's tree, I tried out @themariday 's mapping tool a few days ago.
This is a setup I put together for testing a tool I was working on years ago, and it managed a pretty good map (only ~4 notably misplaced pixels). Maybe I'll try it on the "hard-mode" setup later this week.
(pattern is a simple Pixelblaze script)
Graph patterns on the owl! 3D mapping needs some debugging, but at least these are working.
(running over DDP, eventually will run on the microcontroller inside there)
I was at Maker Faire with the Magnemite (aka コイル, seen here on top of Pikachu) I made on my shoulder.

I was planning on skipping Maker Faire since I'll be at Supercon in two weeks. But last minute I decided to go after learning that I could get there easily by ferry.
I caved into getting this LED plushie from @alpenglow, seen here overlooking efforts at improving esp32 Rust ws28xx drivers. (I still need a Ferris plushie)
