Star child

G listens to Spotify* and most of the ads are to for Spotify. The breathless narrator touts premium features like listening to specific songs when you want in the order you want.

(Insert the very heavy sigh of someone who buys music)

Anyway, today is Bandcamp Friday. Pay some artists. Get some music.

* I've told him. He's young.

The kids know a very young person, R, who is having their 3rd birthday today. Like his other birthdays his parents have not celebrated it in any way. "He won't remember it," is what they parents say.

So the kids take it upon themselves to celebrate R's birthday because the kids know that joy is joy. It doesn't matter if R remembers it or not.

R is having a good day, because the kids are kind and generous. If only the world was more kind and generous to them in return.

Does anyone know where to get a cool walking cane to help with stability for a moderately cool person? Not something mass-produced or that looks like medical equipment.

Thallium?!?!

I cannot imagine how thallium came into contact with kale chips.

I really want to go all Three Stooges on some AI selling bros.

Pistachios are like Cheerios but instead of cheery, they're pissed.

Yikes. Britain's largest telecom turning off the Plain Old Telephone System in 100 days.

I'm sure there's infrastructure costs, but it is a super reliable fallback. It works when the power goes out. It's used by a lot of emergency services precisely because it's reliable.

If there's one thing we learned it's that we didn't learn a thing.

In the wake of Proton's CEO losing his GD mind and Tuta trying to to be a square circle about generative AI, I've seen a lot of folks looking for new email provider. And I saw a rec for a service but it didn't let you use your own domain.

Nah.

Very seriously: Get your own domain.

Do it. Yes, it's an added yearly expense. The old ones (.com, etc) are still the cheapest.

When your email provider descends to psychotic fascism, you can move service without having to change your email address.

Self-decorating #halloween decoration is up for #caturday.

Cold brew ramen didn’t work out well.

Remember https://www.wheresgeorge.com/ ? (It's still there)

A simple idea, track dollar bills by serial number as they travel the world. A fun little diversion. Anyone can play.

Someone paints pretty rocks, hides them around, and puts a link to track where they travel and they joy they spread.

It's a fukkin facebook group. I can't even see without creating an account.

This is what we've let them take from us.

See ‘n Say ‘n Slip ‘n Slide

The See 'n Say toy was just a snitch trainer.

Are you okay, little dude?

Pointing and calling.

On tough mornings I use pointing and calling to make my pour over coffee.

It can reduce mistakes by 85%.

I’m a sucker for videos hanging out with train drivers in Japan. This one is a quiet, simple train line by the sea.

And pointing and calling. :ablobcathappypaws:

Updating brew and it always shows the new formulae, and it's always some dog shit. Like an "Agentic design canvas" where I assume you draw "💰→🏦" and it makes you rich.

Then there's a "Local-first Markdown editor" and what are we even doing with computers throw them away

Voted. Could have voted a little earlier, but I like voting at the library. It’s properly symbolic.

My voting day polling place is the country club, which is differently symbolic. The opposite really.
