Finnish buddy is making a Minecraft rookie mistake here. Trying to mine a stone block with a shovel, wtf? 😋

CSS is DOOMed!

I've build DOOM in CSS and every wall, floor, barrel, and imp is a div, positioned in 3D space using CSS transforms.

Try it out! But... not every browser can handle it. This is taking the browser to its limit. Chrome has some issues. Safari too. Bugs will be filed.

I think that the Notebook Navigator plugin is quite a gamechanger for Obsidian. That, and Bases.

Nice! While I found a working version of MtG Shandalar, my search hadn't stopped there. Now I know of the existence of Forge, a rules engine for Magic where you can play Magic duels.

It seems to have a piece of Shandalar's gameplay in it, but I've not yet played it. I see from screenshots that it has an open world thingy. Gotta figure out the menu as the tab-like approach of the game's a bit confusing at first.

But you can totally have your own decks, even your own fantasy decks, and it also has multiplayer as option. I'm spoiled for choice here!

Right now Forge is busy downloading all the graphics for those cards, which is taking its sweet time. There's more than 30k cards needing graphics. I think this franchise has way too many cards already. :P (Also a good reason to not invest into the physical cards, it's a damn money sink.)

Ohh.... joy and jubilations! I managed to get a working version of Magic the Gathering Shandalar!

This repository has the latest working version! After all those years (over 2 decades in fact!) I can finally go play this piece of nostalgia again! The CDs I had stopped working on my modern systems.

Thanks to this subreddit I can continue playing! This was true freedom in Magic! RPG! Losing and winning cards! And I sucked bigtime back then. I should be good now! :D

Just won my first battle, got a nice red damage card out of the victory. Time to add it to my deck!

Saw a few posts lately about this topic and I thought to repost this from my old Fediverse account. (Also updated the source link as that had changed.)

Apparently using they as a singular pronoun (to use instead of he and she) is hardly a new phenomenon. It dates back to 1375 in written records!

In fact, singular you is much more recent! Dating back to the 17th century! 😂

Oh, this quote’s fun, and it shows that our gender-related issues has been going on for centuries:

In 1794, a contributor to the New Bedford Medley mansplains to three women that the singular they they used in an earlier essay in the newspaper was grammatically incorrect and does no ‘honor to themselves, or the female sex in general.’ To which they honourably reply that they used singular they on purpose because ‘we wished to conceal the gender,’ and they challenge their critic to invent a new pronoun if their politically-charged use of singular they upsets him so much.

Okay, my boss didn't get informed by the Signal app on his iPhone that I've sent a message. Only after he opened the app he got a notification, which is kinda defeating the point as he didn't know he had a message on Signal to begin with and he doesn't use Signal that often.

That seems to be the default behavior of Signal on all iPhones from what I've observed so far. What's going on and what setting needs to be adjusted for Signal to send notifications from the start? Because it's apparently not that intuitive at all.

I don't have an iPhone so I wouldn't know where to look. And apparently all the iPhone-users I know here in my area aren't that familiar with iPhones either. :P

My current favorite card game is Aces and Adventures. Star Realms is now on hiatus until I get tired of this.

A&A is a card battler, not quite a deckbuilding game unless you consider getting abilities and traits 'building a deck'. You've got the default playing cards, and abilities which differ per class. Poker rules apply if you decide to do a standard attack or defense.

Depending on the class, abilities might be a major or minor factor in gameplay. The Warrior, for example, relies more on equipment to improve his standard attacks. The Rogue is somewhere in between. The Mage is a whole different beast, you generally want to mostly rely on the abilities, and almost never do a standard attack.

I've finished the 'Spring' storyline with the Warrior and the Rogue. Currently doing that with the Mage and it's a blast (maybe literally so with those fireballs). There are two more classes to go after this, and then I'll move on towards the next season storyline when I've leveled up all classes a bit. The levelups give those classes some permanent advantages, like starting with +1 more health every game, or having more cards you can mulligan. All small details that add up nicely.

There are different play modes possible. In this case I'm doing the default 'RPG' one with the seasonal storylines and just doing each 'chapter' one by one with a tough end boss at every end. But there is also a mode where you can traverse along a spiral-shaped map, choosing your paths like Slay the Spire, and trying to get to the end. And I recently unlocked the Daily Challenges after I finished the Spring storyline, I have yet to try that.

This game is about perfect. I just wish that the main menu was not some silly 3D thing, and that the game would load faster at the start and have less animations between screen transitions. But other than that.. just about perfect.

Lol, it sucks when you have a fear of long words because this phobia is called hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia. 🤣

That word never gets used in formal writing though, the word people use there is sesquipedalophobia which is still a long word. 😆

No hard feelings verder, trouwens. Ik onderbouw mijn argumentatie gewoon.
