Much better sleep last night, as opposed to previous night, where I slept half of it in the armchair. Not ideal for a CPAP user!

I learned this week that Margaret Hamilton studied at (among others) Earlham College, liberal arts college in IN, where I went to graduate school. I hope they name a science wing after her!

Went into chemist’s, asked for RATs (not sick, just want some in case). They looked at me in shock; clearly visions of rodents danced in their heads. “Oh, you mean RAT tests!” I didn’t lecture them about the T in RAT standing for Test … 😂🤣

Having Leigh Sales speak in tribute to Richard Morecroft says everything about the new ABC. Like a gnat squeaking about a mastodon.

Thought-provoking. Labor’s Left has won the party. So what happened to the Left? Pearls and Irritations #Auspol

It’s very possible they will do nothing. I’ve done what I can.

Common area hallway just now, went to open the doors for my grocery order, 9 am to 11 am. Water on the floor, a pool near the front door, steps going upstairs all wet. Small hole visible in ceiling. I rang Maintenance, they told me to ring Monday morning. I said a few words including, Grocery order, slip hazard, lawsuit. “Leave it with me.”

Neighbours noisy last night, a visitor, differences of opinion. I took something to help me sleep. Was startled awake by a thunderous noise above. Naturally assumed it was them. This morning, I see a branch from the tree had fallen on the roof. Someone’s cleared most of it away. I was oblivious, out like a light!

Ate lots of frozen meals while resting my foot. Some commercial, some I’m made previously and frozen. It feels good to be cooking again. Beef casserole, one serving removed for my dinner. Am pleased with this one.

From earlier this morning. A special treat, morning tea at Via Dolce. Reward for surviving procedure on Bad Foot last week.  The woman at the next table leaned over, said “That’s the way to do a morning!” '

#bloomscrolling We have blossom! First on this crabapple(?) tree.

Had been told to rest for several days. Slept eight hours last night and a solid nap this morning. Think I’m doing okay on the ‘rest’ front. Walking is easier and I no longer depend on a walking stick. I’m enjoying a few days doing nothing.

🌟 to bus driver yesterday. Came home by bus instead of Uber - not the best decision, but anyway. Reached my bus stop, was daunted by the prospect of walking down a slight slope. Asked bus driver if he would take me a bit further, to my block of units. He kindly drove about 20m forward, right to my door. Thanked him profusely, we waved at each other. So kind! ☺️

What is a post census review? Have never heard of this before. Apparently it’s obligatory. 👀 “If we don’t hear from you and ABS interviewer may visit your address to help you complete your survey.”

A new thing, sculpture(?) in Garema Place, centre of Canberra. Sciences, “Meet glorious Wally.” This refers to Canberra’s very own floral emblem, the Royal blue Belle, Wahlenbergia gloriosa. Not sure if this is only here because of Floriade or whether it’s permanent. Not going to give an opinion at this stage, will see whether it will “grow” on me.

Stopped for a chai before rest of errands. Then went downstairs, across the street, into shops … but no backpack! Is filled with prescription meds! 🎒 Scurried back as fast as I could go (i.e., not very fast!) Lo and behold, backpack sitting waiting. Phew!

Nurse from GP practice rang, asking me to come in 45 minutes early tomorrow (I have a GP appointment) so she can do my obs, health check, cognition, mood etc. I’m not doing it tomorrow, said another day. I’m already have a geriatrician who checks cognition, why would the nurse need to do it as well? What’s concerning me most, though, is that I don’t feel particularly comfortable talking to nurse about my mental health. I have professionals for that. Am I wrong?

Still not cooked, made a nasty mess of the microwave. Will stick to basmati next time.

Very basic rice cooker. Put in rice, water, plonk in microwave. Not enough Basmati to cook, used brown rice instead. So far, failure.
