#fossy last day, what a ride...
All the people I got to talk to. I only just finished, and truly I am tired. If this were a go one more day, I might not survive.

The fdroid release of #heliboard 4.0 is out!
Before you submit _any_ background data, I please ask you to watch the video about the privacy controls. I really don't want anyone to doxx themselves.
We have 757,602 gestures collected and organised from active gathering, with more yet to sort. Thank you very much everyone who has contributed thus far! We still have until November 30th, and I may extend the deadline.
I plan on an early release of the current gesture data, the library (drift-type), and its testing harness. There is a _long_ way to go yet! If you want to contribute to the development, we have a matrix room! There is no shortage of tasks!

#Heliboard 4.0 just released on github; it will be on fdroid soon. 4.0 includes opt-in background data gathering!
Collecting gestures from daily use has some privacy risk; I made a video about how to leverage our privacy safeguards.
Boosts please!

Active gathering was also changed to focus on common words. We still want active gathering data; background data is a supplement not a replacement!

What an experience. I really recommend listening to this essay in a quiet place with eyes closed.
I had a lot of fun with a captive audience listening to me yammer about gesture typing & #heliboard.
It didn't get much traction, so I will boost a few more times.
I hope the VOD inspires one person to contribute! Making gesture typing work fast and reliably is a really hard, but fun, problem... Moreover, I can and will make sure you hit the ground running if you want to contribute!

I hate to say I’m desperate, but I haven’t had work in *months*. If anyone’s looking for a #freelance senior #wordpress #developer, please keep me in mind. I do full, custom theme builds, specialize in #accessibility and #semantic code, and am a great communicator about time estimates and budgets! My full portfolio is www.amberweinberg.com
If you don’t have any work, I would appreciate a boost 😊

At some point the corporations realized that Clarke's logic works in reverse, and any sufficiently advanced sleight of hand is indistinguishable from technology
I have been told that actually libreoffice does _have_ dynamic arrays, but they kinda don't really work lol.
Wait... are microsoft really hiring a team to integrate openclaw into the app formerly known as microsoft office 365? They aren't seriously calling it clawpilot?
Are the FOSS office software orgs working on being a suitable replacement for when microslop burns every one of their customers that try out this "feature"?
*looks over at FOSS office software orgs to see them having a knife fight for unclear reasons, while libreoffice calc still doesn't have dynamic arrays*
oh... I see.
@mindystclaire if I remember correctly you were interested in hearing about this?
#Heliboard gesture data project's first batch has been run through the arcane scripts I wrote.
I only had to discard <1% of the gestures; those were duplicates. No obviously fake data!
269,845 gestures, 500+ contributors.
Only ~60% of the gestures are some form of English.
The other most common languages are:
German
Polish
French
Russian
Arabic
Swedish
Italian
There are other languages, with fewer than 1000 gestures, but I don't know their codes by heart... I will map those later!
UPDATES IN THREAD BELOW!
#Heliboard is gathering gesture typing data, so that we can implement a #FOSS alternative to the closed gesture typing library Heliboard currently relies on. The data we collect will be released under the CC BY-SA 4.0
I also made a video including details & instructions.
Boosts Please! More diversity of people & languages in the data, is better!
