I'm choosing databases and kubernetes as examples over and over because they have exceptional "exposure" of their inner workings with an interface to access it build in and this is really really cool as a concept. kubectl is however not exactly easy (neither is system table SQL if you really need to dig) so envision a harness being prepared and optimized for it.

(remember back in the day early web frameworks and their scaffolding abilities)

imagine you'd have a database harness which is basically accessing the database to its fullest extend possible from every angle, smartly adjusted for this particular db, prepared with "tool calls" to debug said db or call for some health checks or quick visualization etc etc. or a kubernetes harness.

none of this requires LLMs but the idea of how harnesses access/pass on data to models - that's the part I find interesting.

so like rr replaying a debug session "but from your fancy harness".

deepseek made their own harness (which I'm interested in still) and it records itself:

"Everything the model sees is recorded in an append-only session log: system prompts, reasoning, tool calls and results, subagent scheduling, and every context injection. In the Trajectory view, you can inspect these records by source. Resume, fork, search, and replay all operate on the same event stream."

set aside the LLMs in the middle, I'm very interested in this architecture and the idea of "replay".

I looked up the equipment for the spectacular solar picture and it is less than my favorite thinkpad config I buy every couple of years.

The level of technology accessible to normal people is astonishing. Add a computer or lab equipment and think about the level of science you could do at home...

I find this mind boggling, motivating and humbling at the same time.

unpacked a cheap telescope I had gotten as a gift but it's really badly manufactured and parts don't fit properly.

I strongly believe "reading the documentation" remains the single most important thing to handle technology right up there with "doing the technology".

"thinking about the technology in writing" and then "talking with others about the technology" is next.

as someone with a master's degree in said "humanities" I can assure you that "more humanities" will do absolutely nothing to improve "technology" because did you really think it's all peachy dandy ethical rainbow consensus over here or that anybody who isn't already mostly convinced anyways even reads "humanities stuff"?
