YES yes yes yes to all of this, I am so sick of my hard work being fucking stolen by LLM companies https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/politics_election-2026/1309382/labour-promises-to-set-up-ai-regulator-copyright-rules-if-elected

Gosh #Linux has come a long way. I remember installing Gentoo back in... well, back when Celerons were a thing. Ubuntu 26.04 installed _so_ flawlessly on an old Macbook and heck it looks so GOOD

I am giving a talk at a conference in a few weeks time... about generative AI! I'm trying to collect some real-world data, so I would love your input. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScJ3es7qvjrubuRzOh0scAgilSINwnTW2qj6eHiYUfBSvq0Eg/viewform

I'm trying to collect as many answers as possible so please consider sharing it around, too! #gamedev #generativeai

A HUGE thank you to #EmilyWrites for this incredible submission guide for a couple of dangerous #NZ bills on the cards.

If you're in #NewZealand I strongly recommend you get a couple of these done in the next ten minutes or so, before submissions close tonight: https://emilywrites.substack.com/p/ok-fine-what-submissions-do-i-have

made a 2025 #bingo card to keep me distracted during the year to come.

I've given the UK government a piece of my mind about #AI and #copyright and I suggest any fellow creatives do too.

My summary: Any AI provider or model MUST secure ALL rights from license holders before training their models. ALL AI content must be labelled, and clearly reference their sources and licenses. "It's too hard" is not a valid defense. STOP STEALING MY WORK, YOU DON'T HAVE PERMISSION

"This turns #AI-"assisted" coders into reverse centaurs. The AI can churn out code at superhuman speed, and you, the human in the loop, must maintain perfect vigilance and attention"

@pluralistic once again writes words that get stuck in my brain.

Does anyone have any recommendations for how I could write HTML like

> <time>2024-01-31 01:30:00+00:00</time>

and it automatically displays in the users' time zone?

I've asked #Google so many queries and they are all USELESS and I know this would be a super simple open-source #Javascript script. #askfedi

Did you know #Mastodon has 4x more users than #Bluesky? I didn't! https://fedidb.org/software/mastodon https://vqv.app/stats

#America & Americans – if you somehow manage to let the orange jerk into your presidency again, the resulting (planned!) corruption is 100% on you. https://archive.ph/1uOgW #politics

If you told me this time last year that, in 2023, I'd
1. be on a panel at a game conference
2. travel to Germany for work
3. show my game to 100k+ people
4. MEET TARN ADAMS

I would never have believed you #gamedev #indiedev

I didn't realise just how messed up #Reddit was until I checked their latest user agreement:

> You also agree that we may remove metadata associated with Your Content, and you irrevocably waive any claims and assertions of moral rights or attribution with respect to Your Content.

i.e. whatever you post, we can completely remove your name, do whatever we want with it, make you say whatever we want, claim you eat dead puppies, etc.

I don't know HOW that can be legal. https://kbin.social/m/technology@beehaw.org/t/109830/Reddit-is-telling-protesting-mods-their-communities-will-not-stay

Does anyone have any recommendations for #lemmy/#kbin/etc instances for creating a new space to talk about a video game? #RedditMigration #gamedev

Can't stop thinking about @pluralistic 's posts about #enshittification. https://pluralistic.net/2023/01/21/potemkin-ai/#hey-guys

(Another example: searching Google for "enshittification" returned three pages of blogs and news sites talking _about_ the post. But not the original post.)
