Oh, no, I've done the capital sin of blogging about blogging, but I just wanted to throw up a little post about how easy it was to get going, and nifty the solution @amin came up with, making using it so easy :)

@amin It turns out my whole blog is 3.4 Mb to host as well, so it shouldn't be too much of a strain on the server, I did clean it up a bit by turning off generation of social cards, which I never use, and then exclude the git folder, because that doesn't really make sense for just hosting the page itself, growth will also keep down I think since it's just text anyway :p

Thanks to @amin I now have a second host for my blog, so it's now also available at https://sotolf.polymaths.page will be nice for the times that codeberg is down ;)

it turned out in the end it wasn't that tricky to set up

basically just adding

rsync -av --exclude .git -e ssh ~/hugo/public/ sotolf@polymaths.page:~/sotolf.polymaths.page/

into my publish script and it seems like it works, and should be updated in the future as well :) nice

Huh. Every day is a school day.

So my eldest tested me, asking what is wider, Australia or the Moon. I had understood that "the Moon is 1/4 the size of Earth", a relatively oft repeated fact. So I was like, the Moon must be.

So Australia is wider. By about 500km.

When they say, the Moon is 1/4 the "size" of Earth. They're talking about the diameter. It's 1/4 as wide. By volume, the Earth is around 49 times larger than the Moon! Much much much bigger!

I once knew that, maybe? Now I surely do.

Kind of in a weird sentimental mood this evening, did have a pretty normal saturday, having a nice walk, listening looking at the views, and reading a bit outside, when I came home I've been weirdly melancholic, hopefully I will get better tomorrow, probably will try to get some more time outside, because that seems to be something that makes me feel a bit happier.

Weird how you're some times in that mood when the feelings doesn't really mirror the situation, I don't really have anything to complain about. Probably just going to play some more octopath, and reading a bit before going to bed :)

You'd think after a long weekend I might feel rested.

For each day that goes on I'm less interested in US stuff, so I guess that is something good, getting back into focusing on things that actually are closer to my real life.

There was a time back in the end of the nineties where so much cool stuff seemed to come from the US and I was fascinated about it, now I would avoid going there even on a paid trip where I'd get to meet the cool people I have learned about through the time.

It seems I'm not the only one lately, I've seen something similar going on in people around me, it seems like the US is losing soft power at a disturbing speed lately, maybe it will finally be an end to that Hegemony.

I was getting a bit curious about how size of games have been ballooning, I had a lot of fun playing Pokémon Red as a younger person, probably spent well over 50 Hours playing the game, and you can store well over 200 000 Copies of that game in the same place as you have one Call of Duty.
