Kids entering the workforce today literally weren’t born in the times when web design wasn’t this terrible.

(being pedantic and looking at the numbers, I would argue that the south spine race is arguably harder, but I can’t speak from experience. Anyway, it’s a Bloody Hard Race)
I had to run the Cheviot Goat (50~60mi) three times to get the result I wanted.
Granted, I finished all three of those, but it was only the third which felt successful.
My first Pennine Journey DNF came after 90 mile, Friday’s after only 22, but I would have been up for running 50: It was the thought of 100 miles in pain that was too much.
I’m learning that although the DNF hurts more, it’s part of the same process: just if you run further, the ‘failure’ looks more spectacular.

• evening starts are a killer, too much thinking 😂
• I really love the north Pennines, and this route
• the presence of the stronger runners in the race, which initially thew me, is a gift: I might get to enjoy the day without the pressure of fighting for the podium. They may underperform, I may overperform, whatever happens, happens, but my expectation is just a fun day in the countryside

STRONG preference for someone who lives in the north of england (we favour hybrid working, and believe a bit of time together in the office helps us), but would consider full-remote for a truly exceptional candidate.

I’ve trained hard, I’ve tapered well, and… my foot hurts.

Made the mistake at peeking at the entry list for my race (if you are new to my lore, a race I DNFed last year whilst comfortably in first place)
Quite a few very-good runners in the field this year, and barring multiple catastrophes on their part, I’ll probably be nowhere near the podium.
Made me realise that I’d wrong-headedly been feeling ‘entitled’ to the win, but at least I have a couple of weeks to mentally reframe to ‘do the best I can’.
