These are just some of the examples of potholes in neighbouring streets (one a campaign photo). We used to laugh a bit at people complaining about potholes but they are now everywhere, really big, and cause a lot of damage. I encounter them mainly as a cyclist: really dangerous for us, too! Anyway, i am kind of interested as a very “English” manifestation of conjunction of climate change, infrastructure failures, and behaviour (heavier vehicles). #TheCrumble

#ClimateDiary Through canvassing #Potholes are pretty prominent in my mind atm. For those of you not in the UK: potholes have become a focal point in UK local, even national politics. A bit of a cliche etc but they are, indeed, terrible - and getting much worse due to climate change (will add some of my own pictures below). Would be interesting to know how bad they are in other countries?

#ClimateDiary We are in intense #Heatpump vs new boiler discussions in our household at the moment, and it is quite something how geopolitics and radiators (and other practicalities like: will the humming be loud?) all swirl through my head at once.

(Our house is old, terraced and high ceilings - it looks like it’s not impossible but challenging. Costs come into it too, of course. Also worried on this front: might geopolitics mean i will not earn any money next few years?)

#ClimateDiary Didn’t include tag yesterday as felt too far removed from climate itself, but: just to log in Climate Diary too. We might not win this time, but it feels good and important to be active again and to connect to new people in your community who all feel the same and motivated enough to spend their Saturday in this way. And to talk to others on their doorsteps: some really thought-provoking conversations.

We did our first canvassing today for the local elections and I am so proud - we did not even have a local party two months ago in Eastbourne and putting together a campaign within a few weeks has been no mean feat. It was wonderful to have Rachel Millward join us and articulate beautifully what this is all about: weaving a web of hope #GreenParty #GPEW

Meanwhile, in our endless Western, white hubris, most of us, especially MSM, are completely unable to comprehend or admit how well #Iran is actually doing. Richard Medhurst put it the other day, “we are watching decolonisation in real time”.

Discussion with students today (all of us being oblique): noone buys the warmongering narratives anymore. Young and middle-aged/old: we all see through things so much more.
