A new day a new project inspired by Uxn made by Claude.

I'm happy to see that it inspires folks to think about what a personal computer means to them, but the most important lesson here is not Uxn's smallness, but the ability for one person to understand it all, when someone uses Claude to pick how their own vision of a personal computer ought to work like, it entirely defies the purpose of the thing.

Please take your time, start over, nothing sustainable is done in a hurry.

Of course, when I think to hard about peculiar ideas about what computers are good for, and how they should be used, I write.

Sometimes I write software, sometimes I write design fiction, sometimes I write blogposts, or manifestos.

In fact, here's a blog post and a piece of design fiction I wrote in 2018 about old computers and their potential place in a wacky modern world.

That piece did numbers on fedi back when doing numbers on fedi meant anything with 3 digits.

In that post I say that I'm going to try to implement a lot of what I described, and that I would write more about it on a project page.

Believe it or not, I did a lot of what I talked about (or, at least, I did some of it!) and I talked about it a lot on a project page, on the tilde I was running.

Some of it also made it onto that blog, but less than I would have liked.

And a bunch of it I never tried at all for various (or no good) reasons.
