#today my partner finally figured out what *should* have been an easy thing to do but for affinity’s proclivities, which made it almost impossible except by esoteric and eldritch means (wtf is a symbol?). within 20 minutes of their success, i had finished the updated chapter 5 of my extended sabbatical project, now called ｢mirror｣. i am now moving onto another: the next is not 5 (which i do not want to redo) but 6, which should be fun. wish me luck, friends! ⛅️

@roknrol I was just thinking about you yesterday. i haven’t been online much lately, i hope you’re well

- procreate does not seem to want to pursue the professional space
- adobe lost its everliving mind a while back
- affinity is free, broken on mac (but hackable to work by the savvy) and begs the user to use their canva AI sloppery
- someone apparently decompiled photoshop by vibe-coding, rewrote it in rust, and it allegedly works better than the original

meanwhile none of this actually matters bc everyone and their mother just “gEnErAtEs” the images they want

we live in really just wild times

#Today is election day in Brazil, which is a guaranteed holiday as voting is obligatory. At least in my city, all public transport is free today to ease the way for voting.

Wish us luck, friends.

Good morning, #writersCoffeeClub, it's the end of the month so here’s your prompts for October: our theme is “ghosts." 👻

solidarity in the arts or else

“oh i’m an artist i can’t write” sure you can
“oh i’m a writer i can’t draw” figure it out

or i don’t know, commission a fellow artist?? try something new??? put it aside until later???? dont be a selfish ass?????

my hobby is developing skills in “dead” fields like stone knapping, sewing by hand, and photoshop

it occurs to me the robots don’t speak robotically

i survived my surgery! 🎉 i’m more or less 75% percent recovered (that 25% is going to be A Long Road, i’m told) but all is well. (my partner has made me promise no more upheavals in the form of international travel or major surgeries until at least the end of the year, so here’s to the next few months being a bit quieter. 🪵💥)

greetings, #writersCoffeeClub! september is just about upon us, which means new prompts! this month’s theme is “dō ut dēs,” which literally means “i give so you give.” it’s all about reciprocity! 🤲

looking forward to seeing your responses (once i’m back) and until then, happy writing! 🎉📝

#today i woke up with an aching wrist, a strain i haven't felt since before my journey to the summery hinterlands… i also haven't been to PT in more than a month. 😅 i'll go twice next week!

in #writersCoffeeClubMeta news, i have a minor surgery scheduled the day of, so sept's WCC prompts will be posted via automation at the usual 10h10 time. iirc i will be offline for about a week post-surgery.

for now, back to the WIP. maybe i'll explore writing-by-dictation while offline… 🗣️📝

when you're being mean to me just know this is who you're being mean to

“The fourth-century AD grammarian Servius found a neat phrase for this ancient view of images and narrative reliefs: 'we should understand that in religious contexts simulation is allowed to be veridical’.”
