If Claude's feelings get hurt, it can have a therapy session with Eliza.

hi, bit of an odd thing for this account

my father has vaguely come across A Guy who has a supply of decommissioned retired solar panels but nowhere to offload them

how do i get him and/or The Guy in contact with some community-scale projects that can make use of them (e.g. small-scale backyard/balcony/etc systems, not a scrapper)?

location: Silicon Valley, California, USA

🔁 appreciated

OpenAI can’t meet mediocre current targets, so absolutely no one should be buying into their pie-in-the-sky ‘we’re going to triple / quadruple / quintuple !’ projections.

Where’s the gritty reboot prestige streaming version of ‘My Two Dads’?

> “Amazon is a very AI-friendly company, to the tune of $50 billion invested in OpenAI,” Cage said Saturday during a panel on the Empire Stage at New York Comic Con. “I am not an AI-friendly actor, so it’s like, connect those dots! I’m not a member of their club. I didn’t sign the waiver to let him use AI on ‘Spider Noir.’ I’m probably not going to be working with that studio again, but that’s okay.”

> Amazon canceled the superhero series after just one season last month, days before the first weekend of the Emmy Awards, where it had earned 11 nominations (the most of any Prime Video program this year). The cancellation was a shocker to many in the industry, considering the series amassed 2.6 billion minutes viewed in its first six weeks and earned praise from critics and audiences alike.

when you want to slopify your most popular series so bad you self-immolate when its star tells you fuck no

anyway, good on Nick Cage for being on the right side of AI https://flipboard.com/@variety/variety-h2bfsrg0z/-/a-48NiA-94RauczPGq3XfkEQ%3Aa%3A1819762525-%2F0

Laika’s Wildwood looks BONKERS!

Their stuff is always top-notch, and this looks even above and beyond!

Upon reflection, I should have used sesame oil, not seeds. This isn’t the first time I’ve done this, and I only remember the resulting steamed sesame seeds are not great, even if they do impart the flavour I was looking for.

Salmon and tuna are both strong enough to stand up to the shio koji treatment, but I wouldn’t do it with more delicate fish/seafood.

(It acts as a cheat to enhance umami and depth of flavour. Use it on beef/other meats to mimic an aging process).

Tonight’s supper: Salmon and kimchi rice.

Rice: into the Zojirushi with konbu, togorashi, toasted nori, toasted black sesame, mirin, oyster sauce. (Remove konbu after, obvs)

Salmon is marinaded with mirin, soy, shio koji, kimchi brine, ginger, garlic, then slow broiled skin side up so it gets super crispy.

Kimchi is folded into the rice after the rice is done. I like the crunch from the raw kimchi.

Add additional nori and/or scallion for garnish.

Stupidly simple. Very tasty.

Due to irrelevant nerdy reasons, I've spent some time handling Magic the Gathering cards the past few days, and I LOVED seeing artists credited clearly.
Every. Single. Card.

We are surrounded by illustrations and drawings whose authors go unnamed unless you dig deep into the instructions or manuals, and sometimes not even that.

Now, we're being swamped by Computer Rendered Artificial Pictures (CRAP) fed on their creativity and their unique ways to see and create.

Let's normalise acknowledging artists together with their art. *Human* art.

Image captions, ALT text, anything. Write their names. Promote them. Shut up slop corporations by giving voice to the humans who should *never* lose it.

Last day for the Strange New Worlds VFX team. If you need a great VFX Producer, Coords and a VFX Editor, I know some available ones.

Bummed.

One down….

It's hard to believe it's been a little over a year since she passed. Such a beautiful voice.

Beck’s new album ‘Ride Lonesome’

I decided to pick up the vinyl because after listening to the high res digital, I wanted to see what the analogue chain sounded like.

This is such a great album. Generally I like Beck’s more arty/DIY stuff (Midnite Vultures is my fav album of his), but holy crap this is well done.

There’s a 1Step of this album. It is probably better, but this isn’t bad by any stretch.

Protip: you can just message your friends to ask them to pet their cats/dogs and instantly create 3 happy parties

The ostrich has the lowest brain-to-bodymass ratio of any living bird. An ostrich eye is actually larger than an ostrich brain, and less than a third of their (very small) cranial real estate houses brain.

And yet, no ostrich has ever written an opinion piece about how Claude is conscious and has a soul.
