Went to a teacher training today and every teacher I spoke with is planning to use less #tech in their classrooms.

The experiment that tech bros have been pushing undermines student capability and the pushback will mean moving away from technology in the classroom in general as well.

Anyone in my reach on here have access to the sort of commercial UPS/FedEx account that gives significant discounts if you have a scheduled pickup? And can use it for personal things (that's the key, I have account access, but can only use it for official stuff)?

It will be anywhere from 1-5 boxes (I need to round up packing materials) and it would be at a location that should count as a regular "scheduled pickup" option (major university). If you can do 5 boxes that weigh 2-3 kg each for <$20 that would be stellar (happy to reimburse if necessary, though this is for a good cause*).

She looked at him.

His head was still firmly in his hands as he sat across the room. where the two of them had desperately been searching for a solution, for several hours.

Then, inspiration hit her. She ran through the idea internally before electing to voice it. It passed the internal monologue test, and it was time to commit publicly.

"I've got it...," she began, "what if we, simply, turned off the computer?"

His head slowly lifted, and he turned towards her.

For the briefest of seconds, it seemed as if she'd solved it. But, just as soon as the joy had begun to rise, it was brought back down to earth with a massive thud.

"But, the computer is how we look at cat pictures," he said.

"Oh right," she agreed. "Forget that then, we need those."

The thinking process started over, once again.

Fifty three years ago I started the day as a child and ended it as a mom. This was the first photo of me and my daughter. We both still had our hospital bracelet on.
The hospital where she delivered never even gave me a room. I was left in a hallway and discharged about eight hours after I arrived. As an unwed mother I didn't warrant a red carpet welcome. I paid them $250 and went home to the room I rented in an old Victorian house. Obviously there were holes in the wallpaper but we were warm and safe and we were living within our means. I was fourteen years old and ninety eight pounds.

It wasn't easy but I have zero regrets.

Is it normal for a church to ask its congregation to give money directly to its pastor? Something called a "love gift" ????? Not anything to do with me - I'm atheist, but I bumped into this concept of love gift, and directly to a staff member today. It just seems so inappropriate to me. As for the name, "love gift" that just creeps me out!!! :)
