I'm looking for a netbook (they don't seem to call them that anymore). Preferably < 1kg and < £200 and <= 14" and >= 8GB RAM. Mainly for word processing and spreadsheeting whilst travelling. Doesn't need to be able to stream videos. I'll be installing Linux on it, probably Mint. Any suggestions?

I just saw a news report that said the crew of Artemis will be the first humans to travel to the far side of the moon. Didn't Michael Collins do that with Apollo 11? Maybe I misunderstood.

I love the Eurovision Song Contest. I've watched it religiously for decades. I can't in good conscience watch it if they continue to platform nations currently engaging in genocide.

I really think the UK should boycott officially. Unfortunately the current gov lacks a backbone and there will be plenty of musicians happy to make the most of the opportunity.

At my pal's house for dinner and he's just said that "Objectively, J D Vance is physically attractive".

Does anyone else think so? I swear my pal is delusional.

What's up with that Amazon algorithm?

I DNF'd a book. Gave it 1 star. Amazon keeps suggesting more books in the series or by the same author.

I'm not saying I'll never read their work again, but I wouldn't put it at the top of a list of things I might be interested in.

Just found out about Glasgow City Council's data breach.

That's the third large organisation that's lost my data in the past 18 months.

I need a new identity.

I'm hoping Trump's nonsense will result in the reversal of Brexit. I vote we call it Tixerb. It's better than Breturn or Bregrets. Actually quite like Bregrets now I see it. Thoughts?

At The Rest Is Politics live show in Glasgow with Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart. Interesting nugget of info shared.

Donald Dewar died on 11th October 2000, a day Scotland drew an international football match against Croatia.

Alex Salmond has died today, 12th October 2024, a day Scotland lost an international football match to Croatia.

A polling station in Glasgow was advising voters to number their candidates in order of preference 🤦🏻‍♀️ (Scottish elections use this method, not Westminster ones).

I know I'm not supposed to worry about things I can't control. I can't help but worry about American politics. Daft, innit.

"The news that Douglas Ross was resigning was inevitably met with confusion about which of his four jobs he would be stepping away from." - https://www.thenational.scot/politics/24378787.douglas-ross-now-resigned-unresigning-leader-tories/

How can he serve his constituents when he's basically a part-timer (on full pay though)?

Should never have been allowed. But then they didn't have to vote for him.

Scottish First Minister, Humza Yousaf, making a statement at 12 noon today. Expected to resign.

Dread to think who'll replace him. Kate Forbes would break the party.
