Looking for brave souls who owns 68K Macs to test my new build. I've finally managed to migrate from Metrowerks Codewarrior to Retro68.

I've tested with InfiniteMac (screenshot) and my G4 QuickSilver (OS9 and Tiger Classic), but would be great to know how it works on a real 68020 or 030.

Requires System 7 and a colour Mac (it actually runs on a BW Mac, but it's pretty much unplayable). Not quite sure on memory reqs - the game is frugal.

A new Git version just dropped and it comes with a new experimental `history` command!

`reword` can be used to change commit messages and `split` can untangle a single commit into multiple ones.

Finally, combined the texture mapping, the lighting and the colour interpolation.

I feel like this is a good proof-of-concept to stop and start reading the specs more seriously, as well as investigating what other people have done in this space, so I can learn from them.

This is also a good time to start adding tests and documentation, testing on real hardware and cleaning up the code.

I'm here for the long run :)

Still a lot to go, but got some very basic per vertex lightning to go.

The state machine for materials and lights in GL ES 1.0 CL is surprisingly complex (given the use-case) and I'm cheating heavily here. But We have to start somewhere.

There's also some severe underflow/overflow problem that I need to address.

With a bit more work, extended the same computation to also handle the colour interpolation

...which won't obey `glDisableClientState(GL_COLOR_ARRAY);` for now :)

Took me some effort, but I managed to implement Z-Buffering on my toy OpenGL ES 1.0 Common Lite implementation. The depth interpolation was a bit of a pain, but surprisingly, computing the normalized Z values for each vertex was the real chore here!

Also worth reminding that this is GL ES 1.0 CL, which is fixed-point exclusive (hence the imprecision overwall).

I also haven't implemented perspective correction yet.

I also don't get how the Amiga folks still hate the Ataris. Man, it's 2025. That Amiga you got on your Attic is just a toy. Try to have fun.

Seems to me that the Atari community also has a bit more positivity. But maybe its just me, but I do not see them shit talking the A600, for example (which I feel is a unfairly treated machine...but one that will still cost you 200+€)

Lately I've been thinking that I never really felt much part of the Amiga community. I can't really seem to adjust.

The vintage Mac and DOS communities, OTOH, are my jam. I guess the whole Commodore ownership drama stifled a bit of the innovation we see on those other communities.

Sure, there all sorts of accelerators and such, but man, it's too pricey and too closed-source.

Meanwhile, if you look right, you can still get an old Mac for 30€ or so. An Amiga? That barely pays for the cables.

It's 2025 and I suspect nobody "Saves pages" anymore, due to the sheer number of dynamic elements and APIs - but something a few of us still do is to save pages as PDFs...by going thru the laborious process of "printing to PDF".

I strongly suspect the saving of a PDF could be more prominently displayed instead of this useless "Save page" relic from the 90s.

On a whim, decided to reduce the resolution of the Amiga CD32 port to the same as the GBA (240x160) and surprisingly, the system scaled it to a much better size!

If I try 160x100, the speed is much better, but this scaling won't happen.

While it's still not amazing, the speed improved dramatically - almost playable I would say.

Ah yes, the colours: I had to reduce from 256 to 32, but I'm working on improving this.

The targets are DOS/386, if possible Amiga AGA (I do have a working build, but it's terribly slow) and the GameBoy Advance. I use a custom C90 3D engine.

Inspiration:
System Shock, Marathon 2, Doom 2 RPG, Phantasy Star I-IV, Albion (1995), Strife, Shining the Holy Ark, Wizardry, Etrian Odissey, X-Men and general Cyberpunk.
