IMO, one of the feature linux distros really should borrow from windows — included scripts for troubleshooting

just run it from settings, and it will automatically check most common problems, and fix them, or at least give explanation what is wrong

#Mastodon's #ActivityPub inbox treats object types in tiers. Note and Question are supported directly. A second tier, Article, Page, Image, Audio, Video, and Event, gets converted to a title, a summary, and a link; content itself doesn't show. Anything outside both tiers is dropped on delivery, which is a large part of why so much of the fediverse federates as Note regardless of what the object actually is.

mastodon/mastodon#24079 asks for content to show up whenever it's present and the mediaType is supported, independent of type. Open since 2023, and as far as the thread shows, no core team engagement beyond one offhand remark that they're not happy with the status quo either.

Reading the issue text closely, it's a bit ambiguous whether it covers the drop tier or only the convert-to-title-and-link tier. I left a comment asking for clarification, since the fix looks very different depending on the answer.

If you build on ActivityPub, a comment or a reaction there is worth more than another workaround.

I updated to version with new design, and was prompted when installing a new app. Also OS required me to give F-droid permission to install & update apps, for the first time ever (I use LineageOS MicroG with F-droid preconfigured)

I also don't see any mention of privileged extension in the settings

I don't really mind approving app installs, but single click installation was kinda nice

Допустим, вы поддерживаете мастодон со своими патчами. Мастодон релизится как: от мастер ветки ответвляются stable-N и туда приходят мелкие фиксы, а в мастер идут новые фичи новой версии. И вот выходит следующая мажорная версия, и вам надо как-то собрать свое добро и перетащить на новую ветку, но при этом приходящие фиксы вы мержили а не ребейзили!

Последний флаг заставит гит воспроизвести всю ветвистость, накидать лейблов и джампов. Когда откроется редактор, все секции кроме последней удаляем нахрен, и в последней секции выкидываем мержи руками. Всё что останется—ваши коммиты. Сохраняем, выходим из редактора, и идём чинить конфликты
