If you’re in Massachusetts, 👇🏻trust me, you do NOT want the top-two primary; we have it in Washington and Two Rs vs Five Ds is the only way Rs get voted to state offices anymore

Look at this mess.
https://apps.npr.org/primary-election-results-2026/states/CA.html
The problem with "top two" is it means the winners are selected by minorities in the 20% range. You could get two Democrats—in which case why not just hold a D primary?—Or two Republicans, if five Ds run and 3 Rs, and it splits just a little uglier than it did in the example above. Imagine if Toni Atkins had run, imagine if the vote between Hilton and Bianco had been a little more even. Republicans coulda owned the general ballot with 40% of the vote.
Let me explain the TOP-TWO PRIMARY, which Question 3 introduces.
"First Past the Post" is broken. Most of the lines on my ballot have only a Democrat running and no one else. That's silly. There are lots of ways to fix it— ranked voting, approval voting— and we should pick one.
"Top Two" is the *only* worse thing. It makes the split vote problem *worse*. It means rather than getting to vote your conscience in the primary, you have to vote strategically in the primary *and* the general.

MASSACHUSETTS!!
I come to you with a DIRE WARNING from your FUTURE.
This is because I have lived in your future. And it is called CALIFORNIA.
You want to vote NO on questions 3 and 5 today.
Both maybe actually sound good to you! But both have been tried in California, and they were DISASTERS.
Question 3: Chaos and brokenness you cannot now anticipate
Question 5: Stealth repeal of the Millionaires Tax. Watch this video where a Massachusetts Guy explains it. https://www.reddit.com/r/Somerville/comments/1xj2aoh/question_5_is_the_closest_race_out_of_all_9/

@serigala_tropis I've considered it, and I hate that these LLMs are forcing us to react by closing our communities.
As an admin on Fedi, I used to welcome new users, fight Nazis, and suspend trolls.
Now all I do is fight against the endless army of soulless scam machines, forever marching against our server walls in an attempt to destroy the community we've built here. It's exhausting and disheartening. At least the Nazis and Trolls were real people who would get pissed and fuck off eventually, but the LLMs will run as long as someone pays the electric bill for them.
Holy shit.
This guy takes a couple of minutes of audio from a security camera anywhere in the US, with no clues from the video whatsoever, and finds the exact spot where it was recorded.
How?
By correlating the Doppler curve sounds from two almost inaudible planes passing by with public ADS-B flight data.

I think this is the #OSINT video of the year.
Tens of thousands of documents on contamination, clean power, and Trump’s climate deletions are now scheduled to disappear.
In a little-noticed webpage update, the Environmental Protection Agency has announced a plan to decommission its online web archive at the end of the year, a move that would wipe tens of thousands of publicly available environmental resources from the web. The discreet banner notice comes in stark contrast to EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin’s recent public takedowns of the agency’s power plant pollution standards and federal methane regulatory system.
“The EPA’s online archive makes information about a wide variety of environmental issues and past policies available to the public, dating back at least 20 years,” said Gretchen Gehrke, co-founder of the Environmental Data and Governance Initiative, or EDGI. “This information is irreplaceable, and if the archive is decommissioned, that information will be lost forever.”

As I said last week, I got laid off. I figured I'd make a post on my site for visibility, along with a link to my updated resume.
The Lisp Game Jam is happening, and yes, @spritely is participating again this year! https://itch.io/jam/autumn-lisp-game-jam-2026
The Lisp Game Jam is a no-genAI-permitted game jam.
If you want to get started, may I recommend Spritely's Hoot? We even have a game jam template with a mini-breakout game for you to try https://codeberg.org/spritely/hoot-game-jam-template
Have fun! Look forward to seeing what you make, no matter how big or small!

Is there much difference in user experience between regular Linux Mint and Linux Mint Debian Edition? Assuming the majority of my PC use is a very simple "I install a flatpak and surf the web." The only thing that isn't under that category is I have Docker and Jellyfin.
So if I just stay on Debian Trixie as long as possible I'm probably safe from getting a 7.x series kernel right https://masto.ai/@phoronix/117541165159382567
