#HomeCards creates a zero-set up (but still configurable) dynamic ‘home page’ for your #Obsidian notes.
An instant favorite, earning its place among the seven plug-ins in my decidedly minimalist plug-in collection.

Ordered a black 512 GB iPhone Duo by 7:01 AM central time, and have a delivery date of November 9. By 7:12, new orders were showing delivery dates into December.
#FoldNotes doesn’t use aliases. Import renders the root text but not the alias, so notes that used to say “My brother” now call him by first and last name.
Again, no deal breakers here, but the lesson remains valid: you’re more locked in to #Obsidian than you think you are.
Perhaps this is true with any app. It’s a sobering thought.
#FoldNotes also doesn’t render any YouTube embeds and a few other frequently-used tricks. Most of my notes come in looking less like prose and more like code.
So import’s possible, but I’m thinking there’s a lot of work an LLM would have to do in order to strip out codes Obsidian understood and reformat notes with readability in the FoldNotes editor in mind.
More on #FoldNotes - After importing my Obsidian vault, it becomes clearer to me how I’ve unconsciously begun making formatting choices that favor the way Obsidian displays the notes I create.
It’s one thing to say, “I like markdown because my notes will be portable.” It’s another thing to see your portable notes in another environment that renders them differently … and realize that they’re *readable,* but no longer attractive.

Downloaded. Installed. In love.
Moving in isn’t a matter of a single click, and my AI will have some housekeeping to help with — but, wow, someone thought long and hard here, and got most everything right, right out of the box.
I’m no @gruber, but I did feel the need to say … well … something.
I hope you’ll feel moved to boost and share this on whatever platforms you use. Of course, some would say that since I’m sharing it here on Mastodon, no one will ever see it anyway. 😉

It would be a remarkable thing to see a Democratic, progressive president make sweeping changes supporting infrastructure, science, peace, and public welfare as quickly as an authoritarian regime has disrupted them.

This is a huge accomplishment, and I love reading posts from People Who Have Done It Consistently Over Time (vs. “I’ve had this iPhone for 24 hours and here are my first impressions.”)
More posts like this, please — from everyone! What’s something you’ve been doing long enough to have real insight into?
Congrats, @mattgemmell
Announcer: “Tonight, on Obsidian PKM!”
Person1: “I’m looking for a plug-in to do X.”
Person2: “Have you tried the excellent Y Plug-in?”
Person1: “Yeah, that’s not what I’m looking for”
(Repeat ad infinitum.)
Announcer: “Thank you for watching Obsidian PKM!”
This show’s been running for at least six seasons.
At a local #Mississippi event called Riverfest, our little “Biscuits and Blessings” crew fed more than 300 people free breakfasts, just as a way to show folks we love ‘em, just as they are.
Our poster was kind of bold for our area. It drew nothing but positive comments all day.

Also: When companies like Anthropic and their researchers say, "There's a ten percent chance AI will kill every living human in ten years," they mean, "There's a ten percent chance the way our company and researchers are developing and using AI will kill every living human in ten years."
Spend less time summarizing, tagging and filing notes, and spend more time in deep conversations about topics that matter.
AI makes it possible. Here's why I have fAIth in this way of using #Obsidian and #PKM in general:

Why are you still on Twitter/X?

Another quote from this book that pinned me down: "Cyrus was a good poet when he wrote, but he rarely actually wrote."
Swap "Mark" for "Cyrus" and "writer" for "poet," and you've pretty much got my biography up until lately.
To be clear, I didn't give #claude access to my #Obsidian vault; instead, I asked it to work within a Claude subdirectory created for this pupose, then carried files over to Obsidian once done.
And, of course, I'll verify all the recommendations. They're just a starting point for my port planning research.
This, paired with #Perplexity and #ChatGPT research overviews of each destination are making it much easier to do the detailed kind of #travel planning I like to do.
