“Give Your Ideas Some Legs: The Positive Effect of Walking on Creative Thinking”
by Marily Oppezzo and Daniel L. Schwartz

Walking is not merely a pause before thinking. Sometimes it is the condition under which thinking changes shape.

Notes on skill, repetition, constraint, taste, exercises, attention, and the not always romantic mechanics by which creative work becomes possible.

This is the beginning of my thread about #Creativity and #DeliberatePractice.

Constraint, repetition, observation, taste, correction: the less glamorous machinery by which creative work becomes possible, especially after the first pleasant idea has already exhausted itself.

#notes I can see that I am getting somewhere with this process. The shelves look more interesting now, more professional, if that even makes any kind of sense at all.

#aside Since Zotero is now available on Android, you can imagine me holding Zotero in one hand and pulling books off shelves with the other.

Sort of like some of you go shopping for books, I imagine.

Do our homes slowly turn into showrooms of our own classification systems?

While studying graphic design in a deeply #nerfed state of mind, I chose Zotero because it simply felt right.

Years later, I am looking at my library of graphic design books, a few dozen volumes, tagged by class in Zotero.

Now I will sort them physically.

This is the beginning of my thread about my graphic design studies.

I want to keep together the parts that still have weight after the curriculum has ended: methods, books, exercises, misunderstandings, corrections, teachers, tools, habits, and the slow formation of judgement.
