Several commenters have mentioned the MRI helium / iPhone MEMS interaction, which is much more interesting than the CAT X-ray / flash memory corruption that I suffered!

tl;dr Recent iPhones use micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) as the resonator in crucial oscillator circuits rather than quartz crystals, and helium can penetrate the packaging of these systems, bond [*] to the surface of the resonators, and modify their behaviour enough to ruin them.

[*] I meant it was adsorbed to the surface rather than chemically bonded, though TBH I’m not sure if that’s the mechanism that changes the frequency, as opposed to merely changing the ambient pressure around the resonator. Helium can certainly be adsorbed by many surfaces.

I feel like I should explain: both microwaves and dishwashers use energy much more efficiently (think up to an order of magnitude) than conventional ovens or handwashing respectively.

(A dishwasher also uses way less water than handwashing.)

Today my 8 year old took one of the dev screens I had laying around and used AI to make a score board for today's game. It's controlled by touch, with the cheering people getting happier the more NL won.

Dev boards are now the ultimate building blocks for your imagination. Anyone can do this!

Ironically I’m trying to print a new extruder so I can use 1.75mm filament. It’s going to be one of those things where if these new nozzles work, then I’ll never replace the extruded 🤣 #3dprinter

Whoops. Just realised I’ve been running a 0.4mm when the printer has been set for 0.5 with possibly a too night flow rate. This print is already looking better #3dprinter

This might be the first ligature-driven “smart” font I like because it’s clear that you’re not actually meant to use it in a text editor or any other WYSIWYG app – it’s only for a coding text editor (the input is JSON). Clever.

Not sure why it took me so long to realise, but I managed to repair my electric drum kit hi-hat with a piezo transducer that cost $5 for 10 from Aliexpress as opposed to replacing for $60.
