After careful consideration and a look at where the industry is spending it's funding we've decided to pivot #FFConf in a "new" direction.

Changed the light bulb on the old car, which I have put off for over a week, now that my wife is going on a long drive in it. Took me 10 minutes, including finding and watching a video on how to do it.
Why the fuck did I use to let the car mechanic fix stuff like that? Silly.
The light bulb itself was around 4 EUR or so, so I bought 3 so I can have spares ready.
I want to be more self reliant with stuff like that.
Our dog really is an Ewok.
"Why should we prioritize making this accessible?"
"The short answer is: because people have civil rights. The long answer is: because people have this thing called 'civil rights', you cunt."
I think I am too tired for this shit. Way too many options and things I have to consider, and everything is unclear.
There's a very real possibility that building a Linux From Scratch system is easier than installing Gentoo.
Current status: fumbling through the Gentoo installation. It is all I have done today, and I'm still not sure I do the right thing, still not sure it can boot when I get to that, eventually. But new computer sure is incredibly fast. Such joy.
Decided to try out #CachyOS, since so many people seem to like it a lot.
I don't.
Everything is so ... extremely configured and skinned. It's sort of nice, but just not in the way that the dotfiles I have dragged with me for more than a decade are nice. CachyOS just feels tacky.
I like that I can install CachyOS on encypted btrfs and I'll poke around in that and then checkout Gentoo next, and try btrfs there. I am pretty sure Gentoo is much more to my liking.
And there's always Debian...
It is now past 13:37 o'clock. I feel extremely weekendly already.

Oooh, is it starting to happen, the inevitable crash? :bugcat_excited:
The Danish PROSA IT union have this article, illustrated with a smart dude sporting an MNT Pocket Reform laptop.

I'm picking parts for a Linux workstation that can also play Cyberpunk 2077. Picking all the parts is easy, except for the GPU, I have no experience here, since the Voodoo II I had 20+ years ago.
Also, my display is 6k, with 4k and 1080p modes (no 1440p!), so I guess I need to target 4k gaming with the GPU.
So, Geforce RTX 5080 or Radeon RX 7900 XTX? Others I should consider?
So much I don't know about computer graphics, I have no intuition.

Time to leave Bitwarden. What's good?
I started the day reading We Need To Rewild The Internet:
https://www.noemamag.com/we-need-to-rewild-the-internet/
Now I'm fired up, but I need to go to work instead...
Anyway, go read that, it's great. Not much new in it for me at least, but I think reminders about the priorities in the fight are important every now and then.
The most internet revolutionary thing you can do is to change your browser search engine to something other than the default.

I know (hope?) I am preaching to the choir here.
Hvorfor hedder det grahamsmel?
I have never bought anything an eBay, but now I have found something I really want there for sale by a private individual in the US (I'm in Denmark).
I am afraid of getting burned, and I have no clue about eBay, very generally. What do I have to look out for?
Brevity was always a discipline. Now it’s a statement.

I need a small, silent, desktop switch capable of 2.5G speeds, 5-8 ports. Doesn't have to be fancy, but it does have to be under ~200 EUR or so.
I would love if it was managed, but the only ones I find are Ubiquity, and I really don't want to drag all their management software and/or apps into my network and life.
I feel good about serial consoles and ssh, more than that and I'd rather have a dumb switch.
Does anyone know of any options that fit those specs?
#macOS is sometimes downright infuriating. It can be helped.
