I think it's time that we start thinking about how to bring the 76X Marin Headlands weekend route back if we are serious about tourism. Now with open-loop tap-to-pay, it's easy for tourists to take the bus. Combine with the incoming cable car fare changes that bundle a day pass, and I think we have the ridership to justify it.
Time to close any accounts you have with Square or Cash you can, and talk to your local coffee shop about switching! They laid off 4,000 people today, including many long-time engineers, including many of my former colleagues.
Once again, the SF cash ordinance is being ignored. All the press around the Castro Theater reopening say it is a cash-only venue. This is diametrically opposed to our ordinance. https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/san_francisco/latest/sf_police/0-0-0-51315
Did you know out of service emergency vehicles, including SFPD, may not use the red transit lanes? Unless a red lamp and siren are activated, they are any other commercial vehicle. This of course also applies to Market St.
Bet our mayor doesn't know that one.
I just looked it up. The SF Westfield is somehow not in a named commercial district so the vacancy tax will not apply to it. Oops. https://www.sftreasurer.org/business/taxes-fees/commercial-vacancy-tax-cvt
Any random int'l travel recs for early December? I don't mind light rain/cold, no snow please.
@scott any idea who these people are? The no potrero yard thing is weird, also they just seem to be clueless on ops https://www.sanfranciscopeoplestransit.org/
@rollovereasy I remember the new management sign being up in ~2016
@rollovereasy I heard via their mailman that there is actually activity at Anchor now. Marcia can tell you about the new Crustacean menu.
in related news, clippercard.com has decided that my "kurt.contact" domain is not a valid email even though it is the one on my account and I get notifications there.
With Philz Coffee selling to private equity and cancelling all employee shares, let's kick them out of the Castro location and move Castro Coffee Company in that space. Fix two problems at once!

LA train friends: I'm flying down and Amtraking up over next weekend, any recs on what to do/where to stay? I get in early Friday and have all of Saturday.
My neighbor's brunch spot is now paying $135/case for eggs.
Eggless brunch anyone?
Can we get messaging again about not wearing your bulgy backpack on a packed train? We have to indoctrinate the new generation of tech bros.
I am amazed that I have not been able to use a $100 bill in NYC; everyone has been preferring card over breaking it.
I love that when walking my dog in the neighborhood I'll get mimosa sniped and basically required to sit down.
ugh, apparently stuff like GoToSocial is "not compatible" for swapping out under an existing handle? I'm having to poke around on my disk, I've got 12GB of junk saved by Mastodon.
Anyone running a single-user alternative Mastodon implementation? My instance has gotten flaky with the latest updates.
This was in my fortune cookie at lunch.
