3rd video (from a good channel :neocat_uwu:), which came out 2 days ago and is longer (1h) but it’s actual boots on the ground coverage with interviews of people attending the protest.
I’ve quickly looked over the comments and I think they are worth a read for the extra info/context from French people.

Cityhall accepted my name change \o/
This hurts, because, it's true: "Silicon Valley will spend millions developing a glove that translates sign language into speech (badly), but they won't spend ten minutes adding Alt-Text to their images. They will build a headset that describes the room to me (poorly), but they won't use semantic HTML headings so I can actually navigate a webpage."
Stop trying to upgrade disabled people's body when the problem is your design!
@WeirdWriter argues that the tech industry needs to stop trying to sell useless expensive gadgets no disabled person wants, or can afford, and start fixing actual accessibility barriers, like bad code, and poorly designed infrastructures.

A mutual sent me another good video in English about the situation.

Good overview of what’s going on in France ATM

I’ll add that the lack of teachers, poor state of schools’ buildings¹ and so on aren’t new but getting worse every year as Macron’s governments keep reducing budgets (they want to cut an extra 50B€ or so across all public services in the budget being currently discussed).
Also, the video was made before the 17th where between 550k (cops’ count) and 800k (students unions’ count) people took to the street.
Unions have called for another action on Nov 5th² but other groups are calling for actions this Caturday and the next as well; we’ll see how things evolve.
¹ technically, those are local governments’ responsibility BUT Macron had the tax that was meant to finance local govs removed 🙃.
² this week and the next are a school break so things don’t usually happen during that time.

Just realised that I had gone from 30/09 to 01/09, instead of 01/10, and continued from there… am I actually an AI? :blobcatfearful:
Got my flu and covid shots. :neocat_uwu:
I feel like I'm getting vaccinated by a different person every time, how long before I go through all the pharmacists? 😋 (Although, I should learn when my favorite pharmacist works, instead, so I can have her do it every time. :3)

That's actually a good idea. 🤔
Maybe I *should* ask my fedi friends to write an introduction for me! 😋
"What could go wrong?" indeed 🤭🫣
Edit: fedi friends, don't hesitate to write an introduction for me 🤭
My oldest¹ account is from April 2017, this one from December 2022, and my French one from April 2023, but I have never made an introduction post on any of them… Should I make one at some point? :neocat_thinking:
¹ egg, French only
I had two persons¹ in mind when I sent that, one of which I barely spoke to at the time, and I can't believe that not only I'm chatting often with them now, but we're even friends! :neocat_aww:
That's pretty nice, I like that very much! :neocat_uwu:
Anyway, if you want to send a message to someone but you think they are too cool for you, take this as a sign to ignore your brainworms and send the message. :3
¹ pretty sure they can recognize themselves *if* they see this toot. 🤭 They both had to spend quite some time reassuring me that I wasn't wasting their time/annoying them/and so on. 😅
I like making some people blush and/or melt 😌💜
I need to live with someone that'll confiscate my phone when I stay up too late, chatting…
And not the friend I've been chatting late with or we'll simply chat without using our phones xD
I wanted to go to bed early… it's almost 1am, please send help 😅
How things would go if someone confessed to having a crush on me, according to what a friend said to a common friend. She knows me too well. :neocat_laugh_sweat:
If you happen to actually have a crush on me and want me to know about it, you better be very explicit¹ and be ready for me to not believe you. Nothing against you², I just struggle to believe anyone would… even if having lovely GFs helps. :neocat_pensive:
¹ hints won't work, I actively dismiss anything that could be a hint as me overthinking things…
² maybe I even also have a crush on you (unlikely but not strictly impossible); that'll actually make it more difficult to believe you do as well. :neocat_sweat:
Ugh… I hate when I'm trying to sleep and my brain is like "you didn't lock the front door!"
So I go check… and I did, of course x_x
lmao
I find the concept of "weird progesterone dreams" funny: what do you mean you haven't had weird dreams your whole life? :neocat_3c:
Does flirting requires biting to be involved to actually count as flirting?
Welp, I got laid off today along with 40% of Block. I’m still totally in shock an have no idea what comes next, but if you have need for a Principal Frontend Engineer hit me up!
