That's Rip Van Winkle. Now look at the shadow. :)

Thanks to @oldbookillustrations I found a great metaphorical illustration for a piece on schools, LLMs and children. The context is the new case against Google, a case involving alleged AI-assisted suicide planning.

Well, this is weird. A Wisconsin State Trooper, originally from South Africa... detained by ICE....

Can't make this stuff up. .🙄

Someone asked me why I was not on facebook. This time, I was prepared.

"Roughly 63% of the global population does not have Meta up in their business. Come join the majority."

I read an article that said this was hard to parse, so I looked. It's terribly straightforward.

Altman understands reality takes precedence over market expectations (a paraphrase of Feynman on the shuttle disaster). He is not dumb.

He's attempting a reboot.

The similarity with 2008's debt repackaging, called toxic at the time, is there.

I've been digging into the claims that the AI bubble in China has collapsed. It looks true, but conflating it with the NYSE isn't necessarily true.

There are different investors, different investment strategies, et al.

I will speculate that the midterms are more important for the US AI bubble, which by design is more invasive around the world.

No canaries have died in writing this post.

So, a thought.

Media has a tendency to communicate about 'personal data' being used.

Has anyone actually tried using 'personal information'? Because that's legit.

Been trying to get a decent photo of a rough-legged buzzard. I’ve had a couple of close encounters. But somehow my camera settings have always been completely off.

Took a couple of photos last week when one passed me. Was convinced that all of them would be super blurry so I didn’t even bother looking at them. 👀

Yet another example related to agents and privacy. Not sure how many more are needed...

People keep saying, "It's a hot stove."

People keep getting burned.

The problem with that analogy is that a stove is necessary to cook food...

Bold. But even if it all works out for him (I am not fan of Adobe), all that happens is a bunch of open source code written by Anthropic's Claude.

I imagine Adobe will have something to say. They, too, aren't strangers to ai technologies.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
