I wanted to post another update about Indy the #IndustrialEstateCat . We took her to the vets last night to check on her teeth, which have been bothering her. Unfortunately Indy is in renal failure, and her kidneys are failing. We're devastated by this news, and while we are waiting for blood test results, it's fairly clear that she is in the final stages of her life.
My dream was that she would spend her twilight years living with us, happy and contented, but sadly that wasn't meant to be. At the moment she is happy and I will continue to care for her, but at some point soon we will need to make a decision about her quality of life.
Finding and getting to know Indy has been a life-affirming privilege, and I'm happy beyond measure that she enjoyed the best years of her life being cared for by people who love her, and who she loves back just as much.
Thanks to everyone who has followed her hashtag and commented on my posts about her. You've all contributed to the happiness that she brought me.

If anyone wants to try a Linux distribution, @kde is a superb desktop environment. I run Kubuntu and it’s truly the best OS I’ve ever used (coming from an Amiga fan). https://mastodon.cloud/@slashdot/115754056111242319

It’s officially Autumn ‘round these parts.

Humans: if we feed the cats too early they’ll get used to it and start pestering more. We need to maintain a schedule that they understand so they know when there’s a meal coming.
#Cats: if no food then yell. If food then eat.

Quite a bit of spam spring up on the @Vivaldi instance, is it worth reporting these?

Notbro tried his best to join in with the rest of the world, but it’s just too hot today.

My wife comes with me to visit Indy the #IndustrialEstateCat regularly. This little stray cat now has two humans doting on her and she loves it. 😊

”Assuming an “artificial intelligence” platform knows the difference between true and false is like assuming a pigeon can play basketball. It just ain’t built for it.“

This is great from @beep https://ethanmarcotte.com/wrote/hallucinating/

My wife’s exercise is over for the day.

One thing I love about Indy the #IndustrialEstateCat is how much she loves the food, treats and spacious living quarters we’ve provided for her. She’s like “everything this guy brings for me is amazing.” She’s excited because she knows how good things are compared to how they were before.
Meanwhile, our 11-year old cat Daisye, a spoiled indoor cat her whole life, goes “TAKE YOUR STUPID APE PAWS OFF OF ME” every time we try and help her get opta -gook* from her eyes or make her comfortable on OUR couch. 🙄

* A term my wife coined for the gunk cats get around their eyes.

#iOS is, what, fifteen years old, and I STILL have to enter my Apple ID password manually because the UI doesn’t support password managers - not even Apples own. I can’t use a truly random password because of this, and it sucks balls.
Do Apple use their own products at all?

"This AI output is highly inaccurate."
"Nah, you're just prompting it wrong."
"How do I go about prompting it the right way?"
"You really need to know the subject you're asking about. Then you can help it avoid making mistakes."
"If I know the subject deeply myself, why am I asking an AI about it?"
"It helps to train the AI."

“Our software sucks.”

#IndustrialEstateCat has turned out to be the sweetest, happiest little cat. 😊 We think we are going to call her Indy, which is shorter and easier than Industrial Estate Cat.

#IndustrialEstateCat is starting to get really excited when she knows there's a meal coming. Her tail is up and happy, and she starts kneading the ground. 😊
She's starting to show her character a little, and she has also been testing me recently - walking in circles around me to see how close she can get. Gaining a cat's trust is so rewarding.
