it sucks that there is no easy way to do the equivalent of curl ... | sh with DNS records on linux. on windows we have the (resolve-dns ... txt).strings | iex powershell command which is really convenient if you have a computer with limited internet access that you need to download a program to.

Does anyone know of a reverse proxy for DNS that can look at upper levels of the requested name and decide which server to route to based on that? Crucially must also support both TCP and UDP, and converting TCP requests to UDP ones when upstream server doesn’t support TCP.

I think cheaters would have been less of an issue if the games were properly designed and the server simply rejected invalid actions & didnt send any more info than absolutely necessary. there would still be cheats but it’d be limited to more boring ones like aimbot and there wouldn’t be a situation where someone straight up just sits at spawn and somehow kills everyone on the map remotely.
