What I don't like is this strange obsession in the FOSS world to criticize something on a technical level if the problem is a social one.

Like nobody cares if something is a pile of bad shell scripts as long as it works. That's just your usual FOSS tech elitism and it sucks... deeply. It's the worst part of FOSS. It's the worst part of our communities and it needs to go.

If there is legitimate personal or social criticism, then just focus on that? Everything else is besides the point

Like... I think it's important to point out what kind of people we don't want to have within our communities.

But I think it's even more important to point out the type of people we do want to have within our communities.

And I know, I'm bad at this myself. But I do think the lack of public appreciation, or appreciation in general is an issue we need to figure out. And we need to create role models we are collective proud of having within our communities.

Not everybody wants to accept this. Not everybody wants to believe people could have actually done this willingly. They did. All of them. The little resistance that existed was being made fun of, or ignored. They were made an example of, not by the Nazis, but by the people. Resisting was seen as immoral.

Do we call all of them Nazis? They certainly deserve it.

It was never force or violence that enabled the Nazis, it was opportunism foremost. The Nazis gained traction in a economical beneficial time, it was almost impossible to fuck it up. So economical growth was attributed to their policies, but that probably would have happened anyway. So people voted for the Nazis and they got a better life and they were fine with. And it's trivial to understand why.

They knock, because they already know. And it was the neighbors, who told them. They told them, because their children can now visit the honorable and best university. They told them, because they got honored for their important public service. It was their civil duty, and they knew it. It would have been "anti-social" to not play along.

Do we call all of them Nazis? They certainly did enable the Nazis to do their atrocities, willingly.

It's easy to demonize everybody involved, but that won't grant you an understanding what lead to all of this. It disables you to understand the fears that most people have with right-wing political figures gaining power. For the targeted people, they know it will be their neighbors ratting them out, no secret police knocking on every door to investigate.

The more I read up on how right-wingers talk about Nazis, the more convinced I am they have 0 clue what enabled the Nazis.

It wasn't a forceful overtake, People, like you and me, saw an opportunity for a better life. It wasn't them, the white "Aryans", that had to pay the price, but the Jews, queer, trans, poor, disabled folks were the ones that had to. They "real Germans" were called the best of all the people, deserving to stand above everybody else.

Birds are dinosaurs and birds are also reptiles.

And crocodiles and birds are closely related, both are Archosauria, splitting into Theropoda, which are birds including e.g. the Ostrich, and Crocodylia (skipping a few irrelevant steps in the middle)

All other Archosauria are extinct.
