TIL that Lawrence of Arabia starts with four and a half minutes of blank screen with just the film's score. I wonder if that inspired 2001, A Space Odyssey, which does the same both at the start and the end.
I also wonder why they did it, because it is interesting, but also seems unnecessary. Maybe to give the audience time to get to their seats? But then why at the end? Or to get them in the mood for the movie? I don't know.
Did other films do that?
