Do they need specifically compiling? I think it wouldn't let me do it until I populated some values in the env config file so I assume there's instance-specific things that get built.

I remember when software was `make && make install` (yes, I know about snac :)

mastodon 4.6.0-rc1 on freebsd/arm64 progress: started trying to build vite-plus from source (so I could build rolldown, so I could run the assests precompile step), but fell at the first hurdle as a build dependency of it (binstall from Cargo) fails to build due to a dep (brotli) build being broken (fixed in source but not released yet): https://github.com/dropbox/rust-brotli/issues/255

Since there's a fix in source I'm sure I could make that work but I'll just wait for a release, I have other things to do.

also the different Python "modules" are standalone .py scripts which the main loop executes with `subprocess.run()` and parameters :C

Looking at some code a colleague "wrote" and it is basically a Python harness to invoke an LLM and "tool" code to run things the LLM wants (like API calls)... and then a bunch of Markdown files with LLM prompts in that the main loop just prompts it with :(

All of the things it does could be done deterministically in Python.
