Brooks’s law today actually understates the marginal cost of adding people to a project.
Brooks (as elaborated by McConnell and others) envisaged communication paths as being between pairs of individuals. That meant that potential channels grew binomially.
But modern tools mean that potential communication channels are the powerset of individuals, a number which grows much faster.
My influence on this is maybe 0.1% of the proposal, but its landing it will probably be the most important 0.1% of entire career.
Trump’s Razor: never attribute to malice or incompetence anything that can be attributed to both.

I reject this from personal experience. The place where I saw the highest attention and consistency applied to quality also shipped the fastest.

There need to be criminal sanctions a la SOx for failing at cybersecurity and privacy protection. Fines just punish the shareholders, not the negligent executives.
