Okay NO.

Fuck over the ultra rich all you want, but knock it off with blood and blood plasma!

We are planning to release new Mastodon security updates for versions 4.4, 4.5, 4.6, 4.7 and nightly this Thursday, Oct 29, at around 14:00 UTC.

It solves a critical severity security issue.

We encourage server administrators to plan for an update in the hours following the release to ensure their instance is protected. These versions will not require database migrations.

Learning about all weather vs all season tires.

I need new ones anyway, but also ... My poor little car from SoCal is now in southern British Columbia and needs better rain tires :D

SIGH.

BC has put the conservatives in power for the first time in 100ish years, because Eby was a fucking moron who called for a snap election.

I know I said I needed to learn Canada Politics, but FFS monkey paw, I MEANT FROM A FUCKING BOOK!

Often when I am talking with a tech worker, they will say something like, well, look, no one will die from my work. But was that ever true? Is it true now? https://www.bloodinthemachine.com/p/we-cannot-under-any-circumstances (My doctor clients know better.)

Seriously, I understand you can't make money on ads and especially if people hide them. But people who use that Admiral bullshit to block sites are the worst.

It doesn't make people turn off their ad-blockers, it makes them stop using your site.

TechCrunch, I'm looking at you.

I used to be the guy who crapped on other people’s program language of choice. I don’t do it anymore (change IS possible!). If a language lets you solve the problem you’re trying to solve, and you like it, USE IT. There may be other languages better suited for the problem, and that’s fine - it doesn’t mean you have to use them.

Some programming languages work better for us than others. I hated Java, and fell in love with Ruby. I solve problems way, way faster in Ruby and have more fun doing it, so I use it. That doesn’t mean Java is bad, it’s just not for me.

Let people live. Don’t yuck their yum. Do your own thing and program like no one’s watching, because most of the time, they aren’t.

It's my birthday.

As my birthday present, could you do something good for someone else without expecting anything in return?

Give money to someone homeless, help a neighbor with a task, or something similar?

We're all in this together. Make the world slightly better for me?

I wish I was more surprised, but I feared this yesterday. Our bullpen is spent, our bats are weak, and it all caught up to us. Our season ends in Tampa.

The Guards have their backs against the wall (again) and have to win two in St. Pete to go to the big show. Can we?

Five games of intense drama, shut outs, shakey bullpens, quiet bats, and screaming crowds. Two evenly matched teams fought and the Guards won the ALDS. On to Florida!

For the first time since the AL Central was born in 1994, the Guardians and White Sox are squaring off in the postseason! Winning the ALDS comes down to three things: fixing the RISP nightmare, locking down the late innings, and keeping the defence clean. Here is our full breakdown before Game 1 at Progressive Field.

There are only two paths to the post season: be the best in your division OR be one of the best who isn't the best. And the odds are so messy.
